Learn how to back up save files for your EA games on PC and Mac so you can keep your place in-game the next time you play, and restore a local save to overwrite a cloud save.
If you want to uninstall your games or Origin, backup any save files so you don’t lose your place in-game.
These steps work for most of our games:
On a PC
- Open Windows Explorer/File Explorer and go to your Documents folder, then find the Electronic Arts folder.
- If you’re uninstalling all of your games and/or Origin, right-click to Copy the entire folder.
- If you’re only uninstalling one or some of your games, open the folders for those specific games and find the Saves folder. Right-click it and Copy them individually.
- Paste to the desktop, or wherever else you would like to store your backups.
On a Mac
- Open Finder and go to the Documents folder, then find the Electronic Arts folder.
- If you’re uninstalling all of your games and/or Origin, right-click or highlight it and hit Command (⌘) + C to Copy it.
- If you’re only uninstalling one or some of your games, open the folders for those specific games and find the Saves folders in each. Right-click or highlight and hit Command (⌘) + C to Copy them individually.
- Paste the folder to your desktop, or wherever else you would like to store your backups.
Want to restore your last save?
You can only restore your last saves on games that have cloud saves.
If you want to restore your last local save:
- Go to your Game Library in Origin.
- Right-click on your game.
- Click Game Properties.
- Click Cloud Saves.
- Click Restore Save.
- You’ll get a message that starts with “You are now reverting to a locally stored save file…”
- Click OK and you should be able to play from your last local save.
Doing this will overwrite your cloud data which you won’t be able to get back. Make sure you want to do this before you click OK.
