Want to level up like a Predator? Whether you're chasing badges or climbing to level 2000, this guide has the XP-boosting tips you need to rise faster.

How do levels work in Apex Legends?

Earn experience (XP) every time you play. More XP = higher level = better rewards.

You can earn XP by:

  • winning matches
  • finishing in the top 5
  • killing enemies (especially champion squad members)
  • Becoming part of the champion squad (the squad that finished highest in the last match) or the match kill leader (the player with the most kills in a match).

Check your current level in your in-game account info.

5 ways to max out XP fast

  1. Squad up: Playing with friends gives you a bonus XP boost. Go in with a full squad whenever you can.
  2. Keep your team alive: The longer your squad survives, the more XP you earn. Reviving and respawning allies gives you XP, so don’t be stingy with that banner. You’ll be rewarded for being the hero.
  3. Go after high-value targets: Going after the champion squad and match kill leaders gets you more XP. Hunt with purpose.
  4. Finish strong: Winning matches or having a top-five finish earns big XP payouts. Make survival a priority, especially late in the game. For info on leveling up your skills, read our beginner guide and tips for more advanced players.
  5. Play Ranked (yes, really): Ranked matches give XP too. Even if they don’t boost your Ranked tier, they’ll help your account level climb.

What’s the max level in Apex Legends?

The max is level 2000, split into four tiers of 500. Each time you hit level 500, your visible level resets to 1, but you’ll move into the next tier. Once you reach 500 in tier four, you’ve hit the ceiling.

Earn badges as you level up

You’ll unlock a new badge design every 20 levels. These are a great way to show off your grind.

Account levels vs Ranked levels

Your account level isn’t linked to your Ranked level (the rank you earn, like Bronze, Silver, or Gold, for playing through Ranked).

  • Leveling up outside of Ranked won’t change what Ranked tier you’re in.
  • XP you earn in Ranked matches counts towards your total XP, so playing Ranked matches will help you level up.
