Windows 7 and Windows 8 users may run into issues with the EA app. Get troubleshooting steps here.

Check to see if there’s any updates waiting to be installed. Being up-to-date may fix your issue.

If updating Windows doesn’t fix the issue or if your computer is up-to-date, download the DirectX End-User Runtime Installer. This will install any missing libraries needed to use the EA app.

  1. Close the EA app on your computer.
  2. Visit the Microsoft page for the DirectX End-User Runtime installer.
  3. Select your language and click the Download button.
  4. Follow the installer’s instructions.
  5. Relaunch the EA app.

You should now be able to use the EA app to play your library of EA games and purchase new ones.

If your game uses Shift +F1 for the in-game overlay as an input, here’s how to turn that off:

  • Click on your profile thumbnail in the EA app.
  • Open Settings and choose Application.
  • Turn off in-game overlay.

If following these steps didn’t solve your issue with the EA app, head over to Answers HQ for more troubleshooting.
