Overview
The Comedy skill in The Sims 4 lets your Sim write jokes, perform stand-up routines, and progress in the Entertainer career’s Comedian branch. This guide covers every way to build the Comedy skill, all skill levels and rewards, plus the cheats that instantly raise it so your Sim can earn laughs, fame, and Simoleons.
About the Comedy skill
- The Comedy skill comes with The Sims 4 Base Game, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, and Teen Sims can all build this skill.
- The Comedy skill is needed to progress in the Entertainer career, specifically the Comedian branch.
- The Comedy skill is needed to complete the Joke Star Aspiration.
- Performing comedy routines on a microphone at non-residential Lots like a Bar or Lounge will earn your Sim Simoleons.
- Telling jokes at the microphone in public will also boost your Sim’s Fame level if you own The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack.
- If your Sim tells jokes on non-residential Lots like a Bar or Lounge, they can earn tips!
- The Convival Lot Trait increases how fast your Sim builds this skill.
How to build the Comedy skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Comedy skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level.Your Sim can build this skill by telling jokes to other Sims. Select a Sim, and in the social pie menu, choose Funny. From here, you can choose between Jokes, Potty Humor, Silly Behavior, and Stories. Sims can use the Tell Jokes interaction on a microphone. Buy a microphone from Build Mode, or find one on a public Lot like a Bar or Lounge.
At level one of this skill, your Sim can write jokes on the computer to build skill. Select the computer and choose Write Jokes.As your Sim levels up in this skill, they’ll unlock new interactions to build this skill using the computer.
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.
- Comedy Vol 1: Get the Jokes
- Comedy Vol 2: Grab the Mic
- Comedy Vol 3: Show Them the Pain.
If you own The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack, the Peace and Quiet Lot Trait helps your Sim build skill faster when reading skill books.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Comedy. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Comedy skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Comedy skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Comedy skill levels
As your Sim builds the Comedy skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Tell Jokes at a microphone
- Write Jokes on the computer.
At this level, your Sim can tell other Sims Knock Knock Jokes.
At this level, your Sim can Compose Short Routines on the computer and Perform them using a microphone.
At this level, your Sim can Joke about Fashion.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Practice Comedy Routine at the microphone or a mirror
- Refine Comedy Routines on the computer
- Mentor other Sims in this skill.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Compose Medium Routines on the computer
- Perform Medium Routines at the microphone
- be less affected by Hecklers when performing.
At this level, your Sim can Write Comedy Books at the computer.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Compose Long Routines on the computer
- Perform Long Routines at the microphone.
At this level, your Sim can Tell a Crowd a Pleasing Story.
At this level, your Sim can Improvise Routines at the microphone.
Comedy skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_comedy 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Comedy skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
