Overview
The Logic skill in The Sims 4 helps your Sims sharpen their minds, excel in aspirations, and unlock fun interactions. Whether you want to build it naturally through chess and stargazing or boost it instantly with cheats, this guide covers everything from level 1 to 10.
About the Logic skill
- The Logic skill comes with The Sims 4 Base Game, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, Teen, and Child Sims can all build this skill.
- When Child Sims are building the Logic skill, they’ll also build the Mental skill. To learn more about how Child skills work, check out our guide.
- Sims need to max out their Logic skill to complete the Nerd Brain Aspiration.
- If your Sim has a Focused Moodlet, they’ll build this skill faster!
- The Genius Trait is helpful when building the Logic skill, as these Sims tend to be Focused, can Share Ideas with other Sims, and may become upset if they haven’t improved their Mental Skills for some time.
- The Science Lair Lot Trait increases how fast your Sim builds this skill.
How to build the Logic skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Logic skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level.Build the Logic skill by:- using a chess table to Practice, Ponder Moves, or Play With another Sim
- using a telescope to Stargaze, Moongaze, or Observe the Sky
- using the Backyard Observatory to Observe the Sky
- using the Life Under a Microscope, select Use
- Play Cards using the Got Game Table
- using the Chemical Analyzer if you own The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack
- Child Sims can use the Junior Wizard Starter Set from the Base Game, or the Beakers and Baubles Science Set from The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Expansion Pack
- playing puzzles on the Games are Groovy! By Kindermade, if you own The Sims 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack.
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.

- Logic Vol 2: The Reason to Reason
- Logic Vol 3: The Problem with Paradoxes.
If you own The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack, the Peace and Quiet Lot Trait helps your Sim build skill faster when reading skill books.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Logic. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain Logic skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Logic skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Logic skill levels
As your Sim builds the Logic skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
At this level, your Sim can Play Card Games, Chess, and Use Scientific Equipment.
This level unlocks:
- Collect Plant Samples and Analyze under a Microscope ability
- Discuss Logic interaction.
At this level, Sims will gain slightly more Logic from Chess and Card Games.
At this level Sims can read Intermediate Logic skill books.
This level Sims can:
- Collect Fossil Samples and Analyze them under a Microscope
- mentor other Sims in the Logic skill.
At this level, Sims will gain larger amounts of Logic skill from Logic interactions.
At this level, Sims can read Advanced Logic skill books.
This level Sims can:
- Collect Crystal Samples and Analyze them under a Microscope
- Provide Logical Solutions to Stressed Sims.
At this level, Sims will get an even better Moodlet from winning Chess and Card Games.
At this level, when a Sim has an Angry Moodlet, they can Rant Logically to reduce their anger.
Logic skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_logic 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Logic skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
