Learn how to download, install, and update the EA app, and make sure your computer meets minimum requirements.

Download the EA app to start growing your Library and get to playing your games.

Minimum requirements

Make sure you check out the EA app’s minimum requirements before downloading the EA app.

The EA app is not compatible with Chromebooks, since they don't have Microsoft Windows.

Minimum requirements for games

Every game has its own requirements to play, too. To find the minimum requirements for a specific game:

  1. In the EA app Store, click on a game to learn more about it in the Game Hub.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. This is where you’ll see the system requirements for the game.

Once you’ve checked your specs, use our article on downloading and playing games to get into the action.

Once you download the EA app, follow the installation instructions.

Having problems installing?

Check your tech

Double-check that your computer meets the requirements.

If you’re on PC, make sure you’re running the EA app as an administrator. Then add EADesktop.exe, EALauncher.exe, and EABackgroundService.exe to your anti-virus and firewall allow lists.

Check your connection

  1. Make sure you're connected to the internet, either hardwired with an ethernet cable or over WiFi.
  2. Try restarting your router. Switch it off, unplug it for fifteen seconds, then plug it back in and power it up.
  3. Once you're connected to the internet again, download and install the EA app one more time.

You can also try troubleshooting your connection problems using our guide.

Restart or reset your download

If you hit an error in the middle of your installation, you'll need to start over — but you'll also need to delete any files that made it through.

  1. Find the EA app installation folder.
    • By default, this is at C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop.
  2. Right-click the second folder (C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop) and click Delete, then Yes.
  3. Redownload the EA app installer.
  4. Open the installer and follow the instructions.

The EA app is designed to keep itself up-to-date. This means when you log in, it’ll automatically update to the newest version.

If you have the app running when a new update launches, it will not automatically update. Instead, exit out and restart it to begin the update.
