War Story rewards unlocks

To earn a unique melee weapon or tank skin for completing a War Story, you need to master all its challenges and collect all letters. Sometimes the Overview in the War Stories menu doesn’t match the breakdown you can see in Acts or Letters. For example, you may see 6/6 Letters in the Overview but only see 3/6 when you look under Letters. If these totals don’t match, you don’t get your reward.

We have a workaround for you to try:

First, exit out of Battlefield V if you’re playing.

Next, make a note of the challenges or records that are missing – you’ll need these later. Then:

On PC
  1. Turn off Cloud Saves in Origin.
    • Open Origin’s Application Settings.
    • Click Installs & Saves.
    • Under Cloud Storage, toggle the slider to 0.
  2. Rename your Battlefield V settings folder.
    • Find the Settings folder inside the Battlefield V folder in My Documents.
    • Rename it to something like Settings_old.
  3. Launch Battlefield V and play the War Story again – making sure to catch the “missing” letters and challenges this time.
    • Once there are no gaps in the record you should get your reward.
On PlayStation 4
  1. Open your Settings menu.
  2. Go to Application Saved Data Management.
  3. Choose System Storage.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Choose Battlefield V and pick the files you want to delete or use Select all to delete all Battlefield V save files.
  6. Select Delete again and hit OK to confirm.
  7. Go to Online Storage.
  8. Choose Delete.
  9. Choose Battlefield V and pick the files you want to delete or use Select all to delete all Battlefield V save files.
  10. Select Delete again and hit OK to confirm.
  11. Launch Battlefield V and play the War Story again – making sure to catch the “missing” letters and challenges this time.
    • Once there are no gaps in the record you should get your reward.
On Xbox One
  1. From Home, select My Games & Apps.
  2. Highlight Battlefield V and press the Menu button on your controller.
  3. Select Manage game and add-ons.
  4. Scroll down to Saved Data.
  5. Highlight the saved data for your Gamertag and press the A button on your controller.
  6. When you’re asked to confirm, choose Delete Everywhere to remove your game data from the cloud, your console and any other console you play on.
  7. Launch Battlefield V and play the War Story again – making sure to catch the “missing” letters and challenges this time.
    • Once there are no gaps in the record you should get your reward.

End of Round screen displays incorrect rewards

The End of Round (EOR) screen sometimes displays rewards you already got in previous sessions or rounds and does not match the rewards you actually got in this one (this especially applies to Company Coin).

Can’t join from the social screen with a full squad

We’re sorry, but this bug is proving tough to vanquish. If you have a full squad please join matches through the Advanced Search screen instead.

Online play

You need to have Xbox Live Gold to play multiplayer on Xbox One, and you need PlayStation Plus to play online on PlayStation 4.

Your connection

Check this article to find out what to do about connection problems, or other issues that could look like connection issues.

“Missing online access” message

If you’re sure your account isn’t banned, suspended, or underage, try turning off Direct X 12 in your video settings and restarting Battlefield V. This workaround should help while we investigate what’s causing the error.

DirectX 12 Ray Tracing (DXR)

Check this Help article if you need help enabling DXR or have any graphics problems while using it.

Lighting is too bright in-game

Try switching off HDR in the video settings. Restart your game once you’ve done that and you should see a change in the lighting right away.

I keep getting trial messages when I’m trying to play using my game disc

We’re still working on this one, but we do have a workaround for you to try. Before you do this, you may want to contact anyone you’re game-sharing with and ask them to make sure they don’t have your Xbox One set as their home console - just in case this makes them lose access to your shared game.

  1. Open the Settings menu on your Xbox One.
  2. Choose Personalization.
  3. Select My Home Xbox.
  4. Change the setting here to Not Home Xbox.
  5. Restart your console to apply the change.
  6. Launch Battlefield V again using the game disc to check that you can play without trial messages..
  7. Once that’s confirmed, you should be able to exit the game then go back and set your Xbox as your Home Xbox again.

“Download error, repair and retry” message

If you’re getting this when trying to install the trial on your Xbox One, you can work around it by starting the download remotely from a PC or your phone.

  1. Log in to the Microsoft Game Store.
  2. Find Battlefield V.
  3. Hit the FreeTrial with EA Access button.

Error message sticking when you switch accounts

If you’re switching from an account that doesn’t have EA Access to one that does to play the Battlefield V trial, the “can’t play the trial” error message won’t go away. Quit out of the game, restart your Xbox One and make sure you log in on the gamertag that has EA Access before trying again.

Game hanging on the main menu when you resume it

If you’ve left Battlefield V running on your Xbox One while it went into power saving mode, you’ll need to restart the game to play it.

Head over to Answers HQ to check if it’s been reported. If it has been, add any additional info you can to the thread. If it hasn’t been reported already, please report it with as much information as you can.
