If you subscribed to Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ through Steam, you need to manage your subscription through Steam too.

If your Steam account shows a subscription payment but you’re not showing as a Subscriber in game, here’s what to do:

  1. Log out of the game completely, then log back in again. 
  2. If that doesn’t work, go to your Steam purchase history:
    • Log in to the Steam client.
    • Click on your username at the top right.
    • Choose Account Details.
    • Click on View Purchase History.
  3. Take a screenshot of your Purchase History screen, clearly showing the SW:TOR transaction. 
  4. Click in to the transaction, and screenshot that page too.
  5. Contact SW:TOR support and be ready to send through the screenshots when you’re asked for them.

Start a subscription

To subscribe to Star Wars: The Old Republic, you can set up a recurring payment or use the one-time payment option.

Set up a recurring payment

  1. Log into your account on
  2. Click on Subscriptions, then Subscribe.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the payment method of your choice and select a subscription plan.

Make a one-time payment

Go to and log into your account, then opt for a one-time purchase of 60 days non-recurring game time.

Or follow the steps above to add a subscription but choose the one-time purchase option rather than a recurring subscription.

Subscription payment methods

You can pay your subscription using any major credit card.

Depending on which country you live in, you might have the option to set up your account using a debit card or PayPal.

Set up ELV as a payment method

To use ELV as your chosen payment method, please log into your account on Once you have logged in, click on Subscription in the Account Management section. Select Change Billing Method and follow the onscreen instructions.

How currency for your subscription works if you move abroad

Once your subscription is set up, your selected currency will not automatically update should you change country of residence. However, if you cancel your original subscription and then set up a new one, the currency will change to reflect your new geographical location.

Renew your subscription

If you chose a payment method other than a one-time 60 day subscription (Credit Card, ELV, Direct Debit, PayPal) your payment will automatically be renewed at the end of your billing cycle. If you have chosen to pay for your subscription using a Game Time Card, you will manually have to add a new card when your play time has expired.

Change your subscription

If you would like to change the way you pay for your subscription to Star Wars: The Old Republic, start by logging in to your account on Click View more for next steps.

  1. Click on Subscription in the Account Management sidebar to the left of the screen.
    • This will bring you to the Subscription Center where you can adjust your recurring subscription (change billing frequency, change card details, or link to your PayPal account). 
  2. Click on Change Billing Method.
  3. On the Subscription Plans page choose your preferred one-time or recurring subscription offer, and click on Continue to see your payment options.
    • If the site does not prompt you to select a payment option, click Change beside the payment option on the next page to choose a different payment method to the one automatically selected for you.
    • You will now see all of your previously saved payment options.
  4. If none of these suits you, you can also add a new payment method to your account by adding a Credit or Debit card or linking your PayPal account. Follow the instructions on-screen for the option you have selected and click Continue.
  5. On the next page, confirm your choices and read and accept the Terms of Sale Agreement.
  6. Click on Place Your Order and wait for confirmation that your updates have processed.
Cancel your subscription

If you wish to cancel your subscription to Star Wars: The Old Republic:

  1. Start by logging into your account on
  2. Click on Subscriptions in the Account Management sidebar to the right of the screen.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Cancel your subscription.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your subscription cancellation.

Note: Completing the above process and cancelling your subscription will terminate your recurring subscription. If you still have prepaid time remaining on your account, you will still be able to play as a subscriber until that time has run out, even if you have cancelled your subscription. Once your prepaid time finishes, you will become a preferred player. Learn more about what will change on your account when you become a preferred player.

Reactivate your subscription

To reactivate your Star Wars: The Old Republic subscription: 

  1. Go to and log into your account.
  2. Select the Subscription link in the Account Management section.
    • On this page you can sign up for a recurring subscription plan or choose a one-time payment option for 60 days subscription.

If you run into any problems setting up or cancelling a subscription, please contact the SW:TOR Account and Billing support team.

When you'll see a charge for your subscription
  • Subscriptions are charged every 30 days if you pay monthly.
  • If you chose the quarterly option the charge is every 90 days.
  • For a 6 month subscription, you will be charged every 180 days.
  • Game Time Cards are valid for 60 days.

If you switch your payment from a subscription to a Game Time Card, the 60 paid days from the card will start once your previously purchased subscription time has come to an end.

Where to find information on your billing cycle

To check a recurring subscription that is active on your account, please first log into your account at

  1. Click on My Account and log in again (if requested) and answer the security question (if prompted).
  2. Click on Subscriptions in the Account Management sidebar to the right of the screen.
  3. You will then be brought to the Subscription section of your Account pages.

Here you can view information about remaining pre-paid time on your account, the subscription package you have chosen (if you have a recurring subscription) and you can click on Show Your Payment History to see all payments that have been made on your account.
