Updated 2 weeks ago1 min read

Overview

DIRT 5 lets up to four friends race together in split-screen mode. Here’s how to use split-screen when you play with friends.

Set up split-screen

Before you start, make sure all players are logged in to an online account and have their controllers switched on.
  1. 1
Make sure your console is connected to both controllers and the Xbox symbol light is lit for both players. You’ll need at least two users (gamertags) created on your console and a controller assigned to each gamertag.
    • If you’re playing on Series S and X, you might have to plug the second controller into the front USB port.
  2. 2
Go to the DIRT 5 menu and get the second player to press and hold the View button.
  3. 3
Choose player two’s gamertag. It has to be different from player one’s.
  4. 4
You’ll get a message that player two is now in the game.
  5. 5
Go to Arcade mode. If Time Trial is grayed out, the game has registered two players, and you’ll be in split-screen mode. If it isn’t, repeat step two.
  6. 6
Select Freeplay and adjust your settings. Make sure you have two-player mode enabled.
