Overview
The Acting skill is a 10 level skill that comes with The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack. Whether your Sim is practicing in front of a mirror or performing scenes in public, they’ll unlock new interactions, outfits, and Build Mode objects along the way. Max out this skill to shine in the Actor career, complete aspirations, and earn fame.
About the Acting skill
- The Acting skill comes with The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, and Teen Sims can all build this skill.
- The Acting skill is needed to complete the Actor career.
- Teen and Child Sims can join the Drama Club after-school activity to build this skill. Child Sims will build the Creativity skill instead of Acting. For more info on how Child Skills work, check out our guide.
- Your Sim will need to max out the Acting skill to complete the Master Actress/Actor Aspiration.
- Performing Scenes in public can earn your Sim some Simoleons through tips!
How to build Acting skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Acting skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level.- Select any mirror and choose Practice Acting.
- Select a microphone and choose Practice Acting.
- Select another Sim and choose Practice Acting for Sims to run lines together. This unlocks at level 2 of the skill.
At level three, Sims can Perform Scenes with other Sims; the higher their skill level, the more types of scenes will unlock. Not only does this build skill, but if they do this on a public Lot, they can also earn some Simoleons through tips!
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The Acting skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the Show All drop-down in the top-left.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.
- Acting Vol 1: Finding Character
- Acting Vol 2: Finding a Voice
- Acting Vol 3: Finding the Drama.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Acting. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain Acting skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Acting skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Acting skill levels
As your Sim builds the Acting skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Practice Acting in the mirror
- Practice Acting at the microphone.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Practice Acting with other Sims
- Cry on Demand.
At this level, your Sim:
- can Perform a Romance Scene with another Sim
- unlocks the Save an Awkward Conversation interaction.
At this level, your Sim unlocks The Trouper’s Looking Glass in Build Mode. Using this mirror will help to build their acting skill much faster.
At this level, your Sim can Perform a Musical Scene with another Sim.
At this level, your Sim:
- can Perform an Action Scene with another Sim
- unlocks the Act Not Bored interaction
- unlocks the Save a Boring Conversation interaction.
At this level, your Sim:
- can Perform a Horror Scene with another Sim
- unlocks the Save an Unpleasant Conversation interaction.
At this level, your Sim:
- can Perform a Sci-Fi Scene with another Sim
- unlocks the #Basic Microphone Stand in Build Mode
At this level, your Sim:
- can Perform a Comedy Scene with another Sim
- unlocks the Act Not Embarrassed interaction.
At this level, your Sim:
- can Perform a Drama Scene with another Sim
- unlocks a Gold Jacket and Gold Pants in Create a Sim.
Acting skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_acting 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Acting skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
