How to get a Cowplant in The Sims 4?

Looking to grow a Cowplant? Be warned! This plant has been known to eat unsuspecting Sims, so create one at your own peril. To grow a Cowplant from seed, you’ll need a Cowplant Berry. These aren’t available to buy as a plant or seed in the game (unless you’re using cheats) - instead you’ll need to find one. 

How to cheat a Cowplant in The Sims 4?

Don’t want the hassle of digging, fishing, or exploring space to find a Cowplant? To get a Cowplant through cheats, first unlock hidden objects using the steps below. Then, open Build Mode and using the search box, type in Cowplant. Scroll through the available options until you find it.

    Press Control + Shift + C to open the cheat dialogue box.

    Type testingcheats true and press Enter to turn on cheats.

    Type bb.showhiddenobjects and press Enter.
If you just want to cheat your way to a Cowplant Berry, you can do it in the same way. Use the cheat above to show hidden objects, and using the search box, type in Cowplant Berry. Scroll through the available options until you find it. You can buy one for §900.

How to grow a Cowplant

Once you’ve got a Cowplant Berry, plant it directly in the ground to grow a Cowplant. Leave 2-3 tiles in front of the seedling so it has plenty of space to grow. Once planted, care for it as you would any other plant; weeding and watering regularly. A Cowplant should take around three in-game days to grow to full maturity. Once fully grown, take care of it by feeding it - select the Cowplant and choose Feed. You can also Name, Pet, and Play With your Cowplant. A Sim, wearing shorts and a patterned shirt, reaches to take a slice of cake offered by a Cowplant in The Sims 4.Cowplants need to be fed every 12 in-game hours. If your Cowplant is hungry, it’ll lure Sims with a slice of cake on its tongue. A Sim who takes the bait will be eaten! The first time this happens, they’ll get spat out with a Drained (From Cowplant) Moodlet. But if they try again while still affected by this Moodlet, the Cowplant will kill them. If left unfed for another 12 hours after the cake appears, the Cowplant will die, leaving behind only a skeleton.

What happens when a Cowplant eats a Sim? 

When a Cowplant eats a Sim (even if they spit the Sim back out alive), it produces milk. To milk the Cowplant, select it and choose Milk. This milk has varying effects depending on what mood the Sim was in when they were swallowed.Here are the different Essences produced by different Moodlets:
  • Angry: Essence of Anger
  • Boredom: Essence of Boredom
  • Confident: Essence of Confidence
  • Dazed: Essence of Daze 
  • Discomfort: Essence of Discomfort
  • Embarrassed: Essence of Embarrassment
  • Energized: Essence of Energy
  • Flirty: Essence of Flirtation
  • Focused: Essence of Focus
  • Happy: Essence of Happiness
  • Inspired: Essence of Inspiration
  • Playful: Essence of Playfulness
  • Sad: Essence of Sadness
  • Stressed: Essence of Stress.
When a Cowplant kills a Sim, the milk it produces is called The Essence of Life. If another Sim drinks this, it extends their life span by a few days. 

How to get an Undead Cowplant

To find an Undead Cowplant in the wild, travel to the Mourning Mist Manor Lot (occupied by the Izadi-Gomes Household), located in the Mourningvale in the world of Ravenwood. In the courtyard to the left of the Lot, you’ll find Percival the Patient, an Undead Cowplant.
