Overview
The Dancing skill in The Sims 4 comes with the Get Together Expansion Pack. Sims can level up by dancing at home, in clubs, or even at classes. Along the way, they’ll unlock new moves, interactions, and stylish rewards. Whether you’re looking to impress on the dance floor, join a group routine, or use cheats to max the skill instantly, this guide covers everything you need to know.
About the Dancing skill
- The Dancing skill comes with The Sims 4 Get Together Expansion Pack, and is a level 5 skill.
- More types of dancing come with additional Packs.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, and Teen Sims can all build this skill.
- Child Sims can dance but it will build their Motor skill instead.
- Toddler Sims can dance but it will build their Movement skill instead.
- Dancing also raises your Sim’s Fun Need.
How to build Dancing skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Dancing skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level of skill.Practicing your moves
The best way to level up in this skill is to, well…dance!- Select a Stereo and choose Dance.
- Sims can also practice dancing in nightclubs by choosing Dance on a Dance Floor or DJ Booth.
- Dance Floors have a few extra options like Dance Battle and Show Off Moves.
- If you own The Sims 4 Wedding Stories Game Pack, Sims can use the Dance Floor to Slow Dance and perform a Wedding Group Dance.
- If you own The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Expansion Pack, Sims can use the Dance Floor to perform a Cowpoke Dance.
- If you own The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy Expansion Pack, Sims can use the Dance Floor to Ballroom Dance by selecting Practice Waltz or Waltz Together With....
- Using a full-length mirror, Sims can Practice Dancing to build skill.
Go to a skill-building class
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over.- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Dancing. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Dancing skill while at the class.
Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 AM - 9 PM.
Using the whiteboard
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Dancing skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.Dancing skill levels

Dancing skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level minor_dancing 3 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Dancing skill up to level 3.PC and Mac
