Overview
The Entomology skill in The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack lets your Sims catch, raise, and study butterflies and moths. Learn how to level up, what rewards unlock at each stage, and which cheats can help you master the skill faster.

- The Entomology skill comes with The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack, and is a 5 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, Teen, and Child Sims can all build this skill.
How to build Entomology skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Entomology skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain skill level.Catch and examine butterflies and moths
There are 14 different types of butterflies and moths to collect, and catching them helps increase your Sim’s Entomology skill. To find all butterflies and moths, your Sim needs to explore the worldof Ghibbi Point at different times of day, environments, lighting, and lunar phases. Keep an eye out for any in-game hints or suggestions on where and when to catch certain types!Sims can raise butterflies and moths from caterpillars using the Fluttarium Caterpillar Incubator, which is available to buy in Build Mode. The higher your Sim’s Entomology skill, the more types of butterflies they can raise!Once you have a butterfly or moth in an incubator, select it and choose Examine to further build skill.Read skill Books
Reading skill books helps build skills, but it’s slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the Show All drop-down menu from the top-left .
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the books you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.

- Entomology Vol 2: Mastering Metamorphosis
- Entomology Vol 3: Wings of Wonder
Go to a skill-building class
Attending a skill-building class is a rabbit-hole activity, which means your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and come back later when the class is over.- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Entomology. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Entomology skill while in class.
Entomology skill levels
This level unlocks the ability to raise an Unknown butterfly or moth using the Fluttarium Caterpillar Incubator. At this level, your Sim can raise a Banded King Shoemaker, Dina Yellow, or Goliath Silk Moth Butterfly.
This level increases your Sim’s chance of being able to raise the following butterflies and moths using the Unknown interaction on the Fluttarium Caterpillar Incubator:
- Cordelian Butterfly
- Grim's Head Hawkmoth
- Glasswing Butterfly
- Jorjan Birdwing Butterfly
- Owl Butterfly
- Richmond Birdwing Butterfly
- Sphinx Moth
This level increases your Sim’s chance of being able to raise the following butterflies and moths using the Unknown interaction on the Fluttarium Caterpillar Incubator:
- Banded King Shoemaker Butterfly
- Cordelian Butterfly
- Dina Yellow Butterfly
- Glasswing Butterfly
- Goliath Silk Moth
- Richmond Birdwing Butterfly
This level increases your Sim’s chance of being able to raise the following butterflies and moths using the Unknown interaction on the Fluttarium Caterpillar Incubator:
- Cryptid Moth
- Jelly Butterfly
- Red Admiral
When you reach Level 5, all butterflies and moths are available for your Sim to raise in the Fluttarium Caterpillar Incubator.
Entomology skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level minor_entomology 3 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Entomology skill up to level 3.PC and Mac
