Overview
The Mischief skill lets your Sims pull pranks, cause playful chaos, and progress in the Secret Agent and Criminal careers. This guide covers how to build the Mischief skill, from specific interactions, reading skill books, or attending skill classes. Learn what each level unlocks, including voodoo doll interactions, pranks, and cheats to help your Sim max the skill fast.
About the Mischief skill
- The Mischief skill comes with The Sims 4 Base Game, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, Teen, and Child Sims can all build this skill.
- The Mischief skill is needed to progress in the Secret Agent career (specifically the Villain branch) and the Criminal career.
- The Mischief skill is needed to complete the Public Enemy and Chief of Mischief Aspirations.
- The Convival Lot Trait increases how fast your Sim builds this skill.
How to build the Mischief skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Mischief skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level.Engage in Mischief interactions to build this skill fast. Select another Sim and choose Mischief in the social pie menu. The Deception option lets your Sim do things like Invite to Fake Party and Lie about Career, whereas the Pranks option lets your Sim Scare and Trick with Hand Buzzer.As your Sim progresses through this skill, they’ll unlock more social interactions along the way.
Select the computer and choose Troll teh Forums to build this skill. The ability to do this unlocks once your Sim reaches level two of the Mischief skill. This interaction has a cooldown time but Sims can do it autonomously and without a cooldown once they reach level 6, or if they have one of the following Traits: Evil, Childish, Geek, Hot-Headed, Erratic, or Mean. At later levels, your Sim will unlock more Mischief interactions on the computer.
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but it is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.

- Mischief Vol 2: What’s Illegal, What’s Frowned Upon?
- Mischief Vol 3: The Long Con.
If you own The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack, the Peace and Quiet Lot Trait helps your Sim build skill faster when reading skill books.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Mischief. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Mischief skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Mischief skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Mischief skill levels
As your Sim builds the Mischief skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
At this level, your Sim can trick other Sims using a hand buzzer.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Claim to be Criminal Mastermind
- Instill with False Confidence.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Ask Due Date on Sims who aren’t pregnant
- Dare Sims to Streak
- Kick Over Trashcans
- Stomp in Puddles
- make Prank Phone Calls
- buy Voodoo Dolls on the computer
- Tickle Voodoo Doll.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Share Conspiracy Theories
- Share Chain Letters using the computer
- Spy on Neighbors using the Backyard Observatory
- become Partners in Crime with other Sims.
At this level, your Sim can:
- perform Noxious Cloud on other Sims
- Clog Drain on sinks and bathtubs
- Mentor Sims in this skill.
At this level, your Sim can use the phone to Play Hooky.
At this level, your Sim can Describe Apocalypse to other Sims.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Send Spam Money Request to other Sims using the computer
- Stuff Fruit in the Exhaust Port of a Rocket Ship.
At this level, your Sim can use the Slap ‘Em Silly interaction on other Sims.
At this level, your Sim can perform Air Horn on other Sims.
Mischief skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_mischief 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Mischief skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
