About the Pottery skill

- The Pottery skill comes with The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, Teen, and Child Sims can all build this skill.
- Child Sims can only build this skill using the Lump of Clay. They can’t use the Pottery Wheel or Kiln. This will also build their Creativity skill.
- This skill can be mentored from level 5 at the Pottery Wheel or Kiln.

How to build Pottery skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Pottery skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level.The quickest way to build the Pottery skill is by creating. But first, you’ll need some equipment to do this! Buy these Items from Build Mode to build skill:Don’t want to invest just yet? Travel to one of these Lots in the world of Nordhaven, where you can use the Pottery Wheel and Kiln for free, or for a small cost:
- Pottery Wheel by GFAUB: Craft ceramics at the wheel.
- Pottery Kiln by GFAUB: Glaze ceramics at the Kiln.
- Sims need to add their crafted ceramic to their Personal Inventory to glaze at the Kiln.
- Lump of Clay: Select the Mold Clay interaction.
- Terra-Potta Small Business (Iverstad neighborhood): Pay an entry fee to use pottery equipment or join a class using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard.
- Konst-Modern Museum (Gammelvik neighborhood): Use pottery equipment for free or attend lectures using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard.
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.

- Pottery Vol 3: Artistic Expression Through Ceramics
If you own The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack, the Peace and Quiet Lot Trait helps your Sim build skill faster when reading skill books.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Pottery. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain Pottery skill while at the class.
With The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Pottery skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Pottery skill levels
As your Sim builds the Pottery skill, they’ll unlock new abilities and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.

This level unlocks:
- Oil Burners at the Pottery Wheel
- Mentoring other Sims
This level unlocks:
- Incense Burners and Gnome Sculptures at the Pottery Wheel
This level unlocks:
- Tea Sets at the Pottery Wheel
- Repair broken ceramics ability at the Pottery Wheel
This level unlocks:
- Raccoon Vases at the Pottery Wheel
This level unlocks:
- Intricate Vases and Abstract Sculptures at the Pottery Wheel
This level unlocks:
- Abstract Wall Sculptures and Romantic Sculptures at the Pottery Wheel
- Glaze a Ceramic with Unbreakable Coating at the Kiln
Pottery skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_pottery 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Pottery skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
