About the Social Media career in The Sims 4

The Social Media career comes with The Sims 4 City Living Expansion Pack and has two career branches:
  • Internet Personality 
  • Public Relations. 
To join this career, select Find a Job from the phone or computer and choose Social Media.A Sim. wearing a colorful t-shirt, plays a console game on a huge TV while sitting on a white chair in a modern room.

Social Media career tasks

To get a promotion in the Social Media career, your Sim needs to complete career tasks. These tasks change depending on your Sim’s rank in the career. To check what tasks your Sim needs to complete, open the Career Panel (the briefcase icon in the bottom right of the screen) in Live Mode. 

How to Create a Social Media Profile

Using the computer, select Social Networking > Create Social Media Profile. 

How to Update Social Media Profile

  • Using the computer, select Social Networking > Update Social Media Status.
  • Or, using the phone, select the Social app and choose Update Social Media Status or Add to Simstagram Story. 

How to Network with Journalists

Using the computer, select Social Networking > Network with Journalists. 

Social Media career ranks

    Media Intern
    • Pay Per Day: §96
    • Promotion Requirements: Create Social Media Profile, Update Social Media Profile
    • Career Rewards and New Interactions: None
  2. 2
    Engagement Monkey
    • Pay Per Day: §132
    • Promotion Requirements: Update Social Media Profile, have 25 followers, reach Charisma Skill Level 2
    • Career Rewards and New Interactions: None
  3. 3
    Clickbait Writer
    • Pay Per Day: §174
    • Promotion Requirements: Update Social Media Profile, have 100 followers, reach Comedy Skill Level 3, or reach Mischief Skill Level 3
    • Career Rewards and New Interactions: §183, Respond to Mail ability, Share Image ability
When your Sim is promoted to rank 3, you’ll choose between the Internet Personality or Public Relations career path.

Social Media career promotion cheats

Using this cheat promotes your Sim by one rank in the Social Media career. You can use it multiple times to reach the top of the career path.

    Select Control + Shift + C to open the cheat dialogue box. 
  2. 2
    Type testingcheats true and select Enter to turn on cheats. 
  3. 3
    Type careers.promote socialmedia into the cheat dialogue box and select Enter.
