Apex Coins are an in-game currency in Apex Legends™. They can be used to get Apex Packs, items in the Store, and new Legends.

To get Apex Coins, you need to buy them with real-world money.

You can buy Apex Coins in the in-game Store by following these steps.

  1. Click the Store tab.
  2. Click Apex Coins at the top-right.
  3. Choose the amount you want to buy.
  4. Check that the payment method is correct and then click Pay Now.

You can also buy Apex Coins at the Official Store or through other trusted retailers.

Are there free Apex Coins?

You can earn some Apex Coins as rewards from a Season’s Battle Pass. There are no other ways to get free Apex Coins.

Can you gift Apex Coins?

You can’t gift Apex Coins to other players.

Your Apex Coins are kept in a Wallet. Some platforms use different Wallets, so you may not be able to use your Apex Coins across all platforms.

Once you’ve bought an item, it’ll be available on all platforms. Platform exclusive items won’t be shared across platforms.

Nintendo Switch™ Wallet

If you buy Apex Coins on the Nintendo Switch™, you can only access these Apex Coins on your Nintendo Switch™.

You’ll only see these Apex Coins while you’re logged in on the Nintendo Switch™, and you won’t see this balance on other platforms. You also won’t see your Wallet from other platforms when logged in to the Nintendo Switch™.

Other Platforms Wallet

You’ll use this Wallet on all other platforms. It’ll show any Apex Coins you’ve bought on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation. You won’t be able to see it on the Nintendo Switch™, and it won’t include any Apex Coins you’ve bought on the Nintendo Switch™.

Why did my Apex Coin balance go down?

If you get a refund in real-world currency, we’ll take an equivalent amount of Apex Coins from your Wallet. This amount is equal to the amount you were refunded.

Why is my Apex Coin balance negative?

If you get a refund in real-world currency, we’ll take an equivalent amount of Apex Coins from your Wallet. If you don’t have enough Apex Coins to cover your refund, your balance will be negative.

New purchases of Apex Coins will first be applied to your negative balance.

Exotic Shards are an in-game currency that you can use to get Artifact customizations and other in-game items. You need to buy Exotic Shards with real-world money.

How to get Exotic Shards

  1. Select the Store tab.
  2. Select Exotic Shards.
  3. Choose the amount you want to buy.
  4. Check that the payment method is correct and then select Pay Now.

How to use Exotic Shards

Once you’ve got Exotic Shards, you can use them in the Store.

  1. Select the Store tab.
  2. Select the Mythics tab.
  3. Scroll down to Apex Artifacts.
  4. Choose a set.
  5. Select the upgrade you want to buy.
  6. Select Purchase. You have to buy upgrades in order.

Can you gift Exotic Shards?

No, you can’t gift Exotic Shards.

If you bought Apex Coins or Exotic Shards and they didn’t show up, follow these steps to try and get them.

  1. Confirm your purchase is processing in your bank account.
  2. Quit the game completely, then restart it.
  3. If you’re playing on Steam, try launching your game from the EA app.
  4. Turn your PC or console off, then turn it back on again.
  5. Check the Apex Legends server status for your PC or console platform. If there are server issues, your transaction may not have gone through. Your Apex Coins may not appear until the issue is fixed.
  6. Go to @EAHelp and @PlayApex to see if we’ve posted about any issues. If there are any issues, your transaction may not have gone through, or your Apex Coins may not appear until the issue is fixed.
  7. Contact Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, or Steam to confirm your purchase went through.
