The Legend Upgrade System lets you upgrade your Legend’s ability and armor throughout a match. Every time you level up, you can pick specific perks that benefit your playstyle. Each Legend has a different set of perks you can choose from.
The Legend Upgrade System is only used in Battle Royale Mode, and it resets after each match.
When you play in a Battle Royale match, you’ll earn EVO, which unlocks Legend Levels. There are four Legend Levels.
Each Level requires more EVO, with each level up needing about twice as much EVO as the last. At Levels 2 and 3, you’ll unlock unique upgrade selections to choose between.
EVO is the points you earn to upgrade your armor and Legend through the Legend Upgrade System.
You can earn EVO from many core actions, like dealing damage, that help you succeed in the Battle Royale. Some actions also reward EVO to the whole squad.
Another method to boost your EVO is by collecting EVO Caches that can be found in vaults and supply drops. EVO Caches can only be picked up if you haven’t maxed out the level of your armor.
EVO Harvesters also spawn randomly, allowing large amounts of EVO to be obtained by the whole team.
You can’t find armor as ground loot anymore in its tiered EVO state. Instead, you can upgrade your Legend’s armor throughout a match.
When your Legend levels up, you’ll unlock the next tier of armor, but it won’t automatically have its full health points (HP). Your armor will start regenerating HP, but any incoming damage or armor change will stop it.
Armor is fueled by a Shield Core. Instead of swapping and dropping armor, you now replace your armor’s Shield Core, which holds the remaining charge of your current shields.
When you defeat an enemy, their deathbox will contain a Shield Core which is the same value as their Legend Level.
Shield Cores can be swapped or dropped at any time like previous armor systems. If you swap to armor that’s a higher tier than your current Legend Level, you overcharge your armor. This means that you’ll gain the extra shield health but it can’t be restored.
Overcharge can only be held for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, any overcharge left will drain from your Shield Core, which will return to your Legend Armor’s max capacity.
You can’t drop armor anymore. Instead, you drop your Shield Core.
When you drop a Shield Core, it’ll be the color of the charge value it has, not its original Legend Level value. For example, a Shield Core with 45 HP left will look white, even if the player who dropped it is at Legend Level 4.
