Know the rules in EA SPORTS NBA LIVE

Learn how to help keep your account safe on select EA services and play by the rules in NBA LIVE.

How do I help secure my account?

NBA LIVE Mobile

We take account security seriously. When you connect your NBA LIVE Mobile account with your Facebook, Google Play, or Game Center accounts, your login information (username and password) from those connected accounts never reaches our servers. Your login credentials are not visible to anyone, including anyone here at EA.

As a reminder, never give your Facebook, Google Play, or Game Center username or password to another NBA LIVE Mobile user. We will never ask for this information.

NBA LIVE

Along the same lines as for NBA LIVE Mobile, we will never ask for your Xbox Live Gamertag password or PlayStation™Network online ID (PSN ID) password. If anyone tries to get that information from you, know that it’s not us.

Again, never give your Gamertag password or PSN ID password out to anyone, ever.

How do I play by the rules?

It’s easy! Check out our article on playing by the EA rules.

There are a few specific rules that we want you to be aware of for NBA LIVE so you and other players have the best experience possible. We have these rules to keep things fun and fair for everyone that plays NBA LIVE, and anyone that breaks them can get banned. Avoid getting banned by keeping things honest and by not cheating.

Here’s how to play by the rules:

Read Section 6 of the EA User Agreement to learn more about our complete rules of conduct.

Check out our Positive Play Charter to learn how to contribute towards a positive and inclusive gaming community.

Don't hack other players’ accounts

It might seem like a no-brainer, but accessing another player’s account is totally and completely against the rules. Hackers will be banned from the Community Market and trade block.

Don't buy Coins

You can earn LUT Coins by playing LUT and buying and selling cards in the Community Market, but buying Coins from a third-party is against our rules.

A few ways to earn LUT Coins legitimately are:

  • Playing games in Ultimate Team
  • Completing solo challenges
  • Buying and selling players in the Community Market

Buying Coins unlevels the playing field. It affects the player economy when the prices of items in the Community Market increase and become unaffordable. When Coin Buyers buy cheap items in the Community Market, they take away the opportunity to buy affordable items from players who earned their Coins legitimately.

If you buy Coins, you’re at risk of having your account information stolen by phishers. Coin Sellers need account login information to give out Coins, so they can remove players and Coins, too. Then they’ll turn around and make a profit off of the items they steal and hack someone else. Help keep your account safe and don’t give your login information to anyone, especially not to buy Coins.

Buying “mule” accounts or performing comfort trades are also not allowed. These things are against our gameplay rules because they have a negative impact on the game economy, and they damage gameplay for you and other players. When in doubt, don’t do it.

Don't farm Coins

Like we said above, you can earn Coins in a bunch of different ways in NBA LIVE. But farming Coins is a big no-no.

Don’t know what Coin farming is? Good, keep it that way.

For those of you who do, if you use any sort of Community Market bots or disconnection methods in-game so you can earn Coins fast and illegitimately, that’s breaking the rules. Just stop.

Don't distribute or sell Coins

Coin selling and distribution inflates the NBA LIVE economy. That means disrupting the safe buying and selling environment that legitimate players are trying to use to get the players they need for their Ultimate Team. That’s rude.

Don't promote Coin buying and selling

Promoting the sale of Coins, anywhere, breaks our rules. Buying Coins breaks our rules, remember? We go over that in rules two and four above.

Don't exploit the Community Market (abuse or botting)

Using bots or exploiting the Community Market in any way gives an unfair advantage and hurts the experience for you and other players. It can also negatively affect the affordability of items that are for sale in the Community Market, making it harder for legitimate players to enjoy the game they know and love.

Don't make false claims

Making a false claim to EA Help Advisors or any other EA representative is against our gameplay rules, and it’s not cool. Breaking the rules makes it hard to provide a fun, safe, and secure environment for you and all players.

Don't cheat in-game

Nobody likes a cheater, so it’s against our rules. Cheating can include, but isn’t limited to, using external tools, performing in-game exploits, and abusing glitches or bugs. In-game cheating is not fair play and hurts the experience for the players you are playing against.

Don't share accounts

Your account is yours and yours alone. Sharing it with someone else is against our rules because you're misrepresenting who it is playing the game to get a competitive edge. It’s also not safe to share your account login information with anybody else.

What happens if I break the rules?

We have our rules in place because we want LUT to be the best that it can be for all players.

If you break our rules, we might:

  • wipe your LUT Coins
  • limit or remove your eligibility for competitive gaming
  • temporarily or permanently lock your account out of the Community Market
  • suspend your console from playing NBA LIVE online modes for a period of time, or forever
  • ban your account.

Think you were banned or suspended by mistake?

Learn how to get in touch with us so we can talk about it.
