I'm trying to buy a game I'm trying to use a coupon How can I prevent errors? I'm still having problems

Check out this list to see common errors and workarounds that should fix them. 

Error Code 4014

We couldn’t process your payment because there was a technical error on our end. Try using a different payment method right now, or try again later with your original payment method.

Error Code 5000-5056, 5150-5153, 5602

We couldn’t process your payment because of a technical error on our end. Please try again later.

Error Code 5155-5159

Something interrupted your purchase, but it was a temporary glitch. Try again — your purchase should go through. 

Error Code 5600

We’ve got your order already. You may have tried to buy something you already bought. Don’t worry, we won’t process this second order. You’ll only be charged once.

Error Code 5601

There was a locale or language issue with your order. Check your account details. Make sure the country and language in your account info match your current location and try again.

Error Code 5800-5803

There was an error during checkout, but it should only be temporary. Try placing your order again. Still having problems? Log out of your EA Account, wait a few minutes, then log back in. Try making your purchase again.

Error Code 9001

The purchase didn’t go through because our system couldn’t access your account information. Try placing your order again. Still having problems? Log out of your EA Account, wait a few minutes, then log back in. Try making your purchase again.

Error Code 9002

We had trouble communicating with your payment provider. This may only be temporary. Try using a different payment method right now, or try again later with your original payment method.

Error Code 9003-9004

There was an error somewhere between inputting your payment and validating your purchase. Try placing your order again. If you keep getting the error, try another payment method.

Error Code 9006, 10008-10014, 10048, 10050

We couldn’t complete your order with the payment method you’re using. Try using a different payment method right now, or try again with your original payment method later. You may need to get in touch with your card or account provider to see what could be blocking the purchase on their end.

Error Code 9028, 10049

We could not complete your order because there was an error processing your transaction. Try using a different payment method right now, or try again later with your original payment method.

Error Code 10001-10007, 10045-10047, 10051-10053

We couldn’t complete your order because of a technical issue with our payment collection service. Try making your purchase again. Still having problems? Check help.ea.com to see if we’ve posted any outage alerts. If we haven’t, try buying again later.

Error Code 10023

We couldn’t complete your order because we couldn’t process your payment. Make sure you put your payment information in correctly, then try again.

Error Code 10025

We could not complete your order because you used an expired payment method. Update your account and payment details, or use a different payment method.

Error Code 9005, 10039

We couldn’t complete your order because you’ve made too many Origin transactions today. There’s a limit to how many transactions you can try to make in a day. Wait 24 hours, then try your order again.

Error Code 10040

We could not complete your order because there were some technical issues with your payment provider. Try using a different payment method right now, or try again later with your original payment method.

Error Code 10044

We couldn’t process your payment because there was a locale error. Make sure your payment method details are correct and try your order again. Still getting the error? Make sure you’re not using any unsupported location-related applications, like as a proxy or VPN.

Error Code 10008-10014, 10048, 10050

We couldn’t process your order because there’s an issue with your payment method or because of an account-related issue. Try using a different payment method right now, or try again later with your original payment method.

Error Message: This promo code does not apply to one or more items in your cart. Remove the items to continue with your purchase.

The coupon code you’re trying to use cannot be used for what you’re trying to buy.

Double-check the details of your coupon and your purchase. Make sure you entered the correct coupon code. If there’s something your cart that the coupon may not cover, remove that item and try using the coupon again.

Error Message: This promo code does not exist. Review your code and try again.

The coupon code you’re trying to use doesn't match any current or past valid code. Make sure you entered your code correctly, then give it another try.

Error Message: This promo code is no longer valid or has already been used.

The coupon code you’re trying to use has either been used already or expired. Make sure your coupon code is still valid. Double-check you entered the code correctly.

Check your details

We all make mistakes — there could be a small one in your account details.

Double-check your account and payment details to make sure they're correct.

Visit the Payment & Shipping tab of your My Account page to find your info and make any changes you need to.

Checking your billing address against the one on your statements clears up a lot of these errors.
