Need some help with your pack install? Follow our guide below.

Before installing any additional content for The Sims 4, make sure the Base Game is fully installed and updated. For help with this, read our guide to installing The Sims 4 Base Game.

Digital packs should install automatically after buying them. If they don't, here's how to manually install them.

Playing on PC? The EA app has replaced Origin as the main platform for downloading and launching The Sims 4 on PC.

Once you download the EA app, your packs will automatically be transferred over from Origin. Learn more about the EA app and how to download it here.

If you’re on a Mac, you can keep using Origin for Mac. We’ll  invite you to our new platform, EA app for Mac, soon.

Digital purchase on the EA app for Windows

  1. Launch the EA app.
  2. If prompted, log in using your EA Account info.
  3. Open your Library and click on The Sims 4.
  4. Click Add-ons to see which packs you currently own.
  5. If you own a pack and it hasn’t automatically installed, click the Download icon.
  6. After the installation is complete, you’ll see your new content in-game the next time you launch The Sims 4.

Digital purchase on Origin for Mac

  1. Launch Origin on your computer.
  2. If prompted, log in using your EA Account info.
  3. Go to the My Game Library tab.
  4. Right-click on The Sims 4 Base Game image and click Show Game Details.
  5. Click on the More menu to access the dropdown list of extra content.
  6. Click Expansion Packs, Game Packs, or Stuff Packs, and you’ll see what extra content you currently own.
  7. Find the pack you need to install from the list and click Download.
  8. After the installation is complete, click The Sims 4 and then Play to launch the game. The pack content will now be available within The Sims 4.

Installing a product code purchase for the EA app on PC

  1. Launch the EA app.
  2. If prompted, log in using your EA Account info.
  3. Open your Library.
  4. Click Redeem Code.
  5. Enter the product code, click Next, and then Confirm.
  6. Click Download with the EA app.

Installing a product code purchase for Origin on Mac

  1. Launch Origin on your computer.
  2. If prompted, log in using your EA Account info.
  3. Click the Games menu at the top of the screen.
  4. In the drop-down menu, choose Redeem Product Code.
  5. Enter the product code, and click Next.
  6. Right-click on The Sims 4 Base Game image and click Show Game Details.
  7. Click the Expansion Packs, Game Packs, or Stuff Packs tab depending on what pack you bought.
  8. Find the pack you want to install and click Download.
  9. After the installation is finished, click The Sims 4 and then Play to launch the game. Your new pack content will now be available in-game.

If you bought a pack on disc (PC only)

  1. Insert the game disc into your disk drive and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. When prompted, enter the product code that was included with the installation discs.
  3. Once you have redeemed the pack, you can view it on The Sims 4 game details page in the Library tab.
  4. After the installation is complete click The Sims 4 and then Play to launch the game. The pack content will now be available within The Sims 4.

On the EA app for Windows

Follow these steps to check that your pack is installed on the EA app.

  1. Open Library.
  2. Click on The Sims 4 game tile.
  3. Select Manage.
  4. Choose Manage add-ons.
  5. In the pop-up, a list of your owned add-ons will appear. Installed add-ons and in-game content are ones you own and already have installed.
  6. Downloadable add-ons are ones you own but haven’t installed yet.
  7. Click the Download icon for any add-ons not yet installed.

On Origin for Mac

Follow these steps to check that your pack is installed on Origin.

  1. Go to The Sims 4 game tile.
  2. Right-click on The Sims 4 Base Game image and click Show Game Details.
  3. Click on the More menu to access the dropdown list of extra content.
  4. Click Expansion Packs, Game Packs, or Stuff Packs, depending on the pack you installed.
  5. Find the pack you installed.
  6. If it says Play or Details and has an Installed icon next to it, this means the pack is installed and ready to play.
