How to build the Apothecary skill

The Apothecary skill comes with The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack, and is a level 10 skill. There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Apothecary skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level. Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Sims can all build this skill. 

Create Cures and Elixirs

Creating Cures and Elixirs to heal Sims’ ailments is the main focus of the Apothecary skill. Sims can create these using the Leafy Ledge Apothecary Table, which can be bought in Build Mode.Select the Leafy Ledge Apothecary Table and choose Craft. A menu will pop up showing which Elixirs and potions your Sim has enough skill to create.  As your Sim progresses through the Apothecary skill, they’ll unlock more recipes.  You’ll need specific ingredients in your Sim’s personal inventory to be able to craft these. Buy them at market stalls, grow them in your garden, or forage for them in the wild!

Use the computer

Sims can gain the Apothecary skill by researching it on the computer. Select a computer and choose More choices > Web > Research > Research Cures & Elixirs. 

Read skill Books

Reading skill books will help build skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you to level 9 of a skill.  To buy skill books:

    Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.

    In the pop-up, select the drop-down at the top left that reads Show All.
  3. 3
    Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.
The skill books are:
  • Apothecary Vol 1: A Spoonful of Sugar
  • Apothecary Vol 2: No, Don’t Drink That!
  • Apothecary Vol 3: Making Your Friends Drink That

Go to a skill-building class

If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sims can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot and come back when the class is over.

    In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.

    Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
  3. 3
    Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
  4. 4
    In the pop-up menu, choose Apothecary. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain Apothecary skill while at the class.
Note: Skill classes are only available between 9 AM - 9 PM. 

Using the whiteboard

If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Apothecary skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard.

Apothecary skill rewards

As your Sim builds the Apothecary skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. Here’s what’s unlocked at each skill level:

  • Recipe: Freezer Bunny Foot
  • Recipe: Cowplant Horn 
  • Object: Apothecary Study Set
  • Interaction:  Forage For Apothecary Ingredients

  • Recipe: Enhanced Eyes
  • Recipe: Calming Draught
  • Recipe: Emotion Potions (crafting specific emotion potions at the Leafy Ledge Apothecary Table)
  • Interaction: Enthuse about Crafting Elixirs

  • Recipe: Noxious Gas
  • Recipe: Hooked on Nature 

  • Recipe: Momentary Happiness
  • Recipe: A Wee Drink 
  • Buff Chance:  Sim now has less chance of getting the Overwhelmed Smell Buff when crafting
  • Object: Apothecarist's Tabletop Organizer
  • Interaction: The Mentor interaction unlocks so your Sim can mentor other Sims in the Apothecary skill

Apothecary skill cheats

When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level Major_Apothecary 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Apothecary skill up to level 7.

    Press Control + Shift + C to open the cheat dialogue box.

    Type testingcheats true and press Enter to turn on cheats. 
  3. 3
    Type stats.set_skill_level Major_Apothecary [skill level] and press Enter.
