Sometimes your Sims get stuck—here’s how to reset them.

How to open the cheat window

If your Sim is stuck or unresponsive, there are two methods to reset them using the cheat window. You can reset all Sims, not just the ones you’re controlling, except in cases of Sims not found.
  • PC and Mac: press CTRL + Shift + C at the same time.
  • PlayStation: press L1, L2, R1, and R2 at the same time.
  • Xbox: press LB, LT, RB, and RT at the same time.
Resetting your Sim will return them to a playable state, but the Sim won’t return to their home lot and their needs will stay the same. Resetting your Sim also cancels their wishes and moodlets, so check back with your Sims if you want them to complete specific actions.Watch our video to learn how to reset stuck, or unresponsive Sims.

ResetSim method

Type resetSim Firstname Lastname of the Sim you want to reset into the cheat bar and press Enter. For example, if you want to reset Bella Goth, type: resetSim Bella Goth, and press Enter.
To reset all of the Sims in your current game, type resetSim *.
The resetSim * cheat doesn’t always reset all Sims, and you might get a Sim not found error.

Testing cheats true method

  1. 1
Type testingcheat true into the cheat bar and press Enter
  2. 2
Press the Shift button and then click on the Sim you want to reset.
  3. 3
Select the Reset Object (Debug) option.
