Learn how to show your FPS (frames-per-second) counter in Apex Legends, plus how to cap your FPS or turn on 120 FPS mode.

What is FPS?

Frames-per-second (FPS) helps determine how smooth your gameplay is. Most players aim for around 60 FPS as standard in Apex Legends, as 60 FPS is what most monitors support. Turning on your FPS tracking can help you figure out whether you should adjust other gameplay settings for better performance. Visual output may vary depending on your hardware and display monitor—check your monitor to see what FPS settings it supports.

How to show your FPS

  1. 1
    Go to Settings.
  2. 2
    Go to the Gameplay tab.
  3. 3
    Toggle Performance Display on.
You’ll now see FPS and ping data in the top-right corner.

How to cap your FPS on PC

Changing your FPS cap can cause performance issues. Check your PC’s specs before capping your FPS.
  1. 1
    Open the EA app.
  2. 2
Open your Library and find Apex Legends.

  4. 4
    Select View properties.
  5. 5
Under Advanced launch options, type +fps_max <required frame rate>.
    • For example, if you want to cap your FPS at 200 frames per second, the code would be +fps_max 200.
