Overview
The Baking skill in The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack lets your Sim craft baked goods like doughnuts, pies, and tarts. Learn how to build this skill, unlock new recipes, and earn extra Simoleons by running your own bakery. This guide also covers how to use skill books, appliances, and cheats to level up faster.
About the Baking skill
- The Baking skill comes with The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, and Teen Sims can all build this skill.
- Looking to earn some extra Simoleons? Sims can run their own bakery and sell their baked goods.
- The Homey Lot Trait will build a Sim’s Baking skill faster, and they’ll get a Happy Moodlet.
How to build the Baking skill
There are a few ways your Sim can level up their Baking skill. Some Baking interactions only unlock once your Sim reaches a higher skill level.Select a fridge or oven and choose Bake. This will bring up all the available recipes for your Sim can make. The higher your Sim’s baking skill, the more options will become available. Note: Your Sim needs a clear kitchen counter to prep baked goods.
- 1Buy the Whipped Dream Cupcake Factory (§1,200) from Build Mode.
- 2Select the Cupcake Factory and choose Bake Pastries to open the recipe list.
Your Sim can also build their Baking skill by reading. This is a slower method and will only raise the skill up to Level 9.To buy skill books:The Baking skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.
- Baking Vol 1: Mix
- Baking Vol 2: Shape
- Baking Vol 3: Bake
If you own The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack, the Peace and Quiet Lot Trait helps your Sim build skill faster when reading skill books.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Baking. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Baking skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Baking skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Baking skill levels
As your Sim levels up their Baking skill, they’ll unlock new recipes to try in the kitchen and with the Cupcake Factory. Here’s what your Sim can bake, new interactions, and abilities at each level.A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.

Baking skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_baking 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Baking skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
