Who can be a Fairy in The Sims 4?

Fairies are an occult type exclusive to The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack.Sims of all ages can become Fairies, but they won’t manifest their wings and powers until they become a Teen.

How to become a Fairy in The Sims 4

  1. 1
In the honeycomb menu in the top left, select Pick an Occult! (the pink person icon).
  2. 2
In the Select Occult drop down choose Fairy.
You can also do this when adding another Sim to your Household:
  1. 1
Select Add a Sim in the bottom left of the screen.
  2. 2
In the pop-up, choose Add Occult Sim.
  3. 3
    Select Fairy.
A green line highlights the Link Fairy Form with Sim Form button explaining that when linked changes are copied to the other.Fairies have two forms: their human Sim form and their Fairy form. You can edit each form to be unique in Create a Sim, or you can sync certain filters to match. For example, if you toggle off the filter for Hair, your Sim form and Fairy form can have different hairstyles. These filters are all on by default, but you can toggle them on or off.In the bottom left, there are two thumbnails of your Sim stacked on top of each other. The bottom thumbnail is your regular Sim form, the top is their Fairy form. Select either one to edit a form individually.  Selecting the chain icon above your Sims’ thumbnail lets you link or unlink the two forms so they can be edited separately. This means the edits won’t carry across to both forms. The three dots above this opens the Link Filters menu, where you can manually select which filters you want to be the same across both forms.

Start the journey to become a Fairy by acquiring a Fairy Seedling through researching, asking a Fairy for a seed, foraging, or purchasing from the computer.Ask a Fairy:
  1. 1
Select a Fairy Sim and choose More Choices > Fairy > Social > Ask How to Become a Fairy.
  2. 2
Then select More Choices > Fairy > Social > Ask for Fairy Seedling.
  3. 3
The Fairy Sim will then gift your Sim a Fairy Seedling. Find this in their Personal Inventory.
Using the computer:
  1. 1
Select More Choices > Order > Purchase Fairy Seedling
  2. 2
Open your Sim’s Personal Inventory to find the Fairy Seedling.
Once you have a Fairy Seedling:
  1. 1
Select a planter box, pot, or outdoor terrain and choose Plant Fairy Seedling
  2. 2
When Mother Nature appears, she’ll automatically Charm you. If not, select her and choose Ask for Mother Nature’s Charm.
Drink the magical potion she gives you, and the effects will last for 24 hours. Before the 24 hours are up, travel to Moondrop Springs to metamorphose into a Fairy by selecting the Springs and choosing Become a Fairy.To get to Moondrop Springs, travel to Starsong Lounge in Everdew where the Springs are nearby.
Note: Your Sim’s Fairy form and wings will be auto-selected for you during this transformation, but you can enter Create a Sim anytime to edit your Fairy form.

Like becoming a Fairy, your Sim will also need a Fairy Seedling to become mortal again. Once you have a Fairy Seedling:
  1. 1
Select a planter box, pot, or outdoor terrain and choose Plant Fairy Seedling
  2. 2
When Mother Nature appears, select her and choose Ask to Remove Fairy Essence.
Mother Nature will then siphon your Sim’s Emotional Force. Your Sim will:
  • Get a Fine Buff that protects them from dying due to Emotional Starvation.
  • Get a Bottled Emotion potion that you’ll find in their personal inventory. This holds their magic.
  • While this Buff is active (24 Sim hours), your Sim is safe. But once it expires, they’ll need to act fast or risk death from Emotional Starvation.
To complete the transformation, travel to Moondrop Springs. Open your Sim’s personal inventory and pour the bottled emotion into the Springs.Your Sim will then transform back into a regular Sim, losing their Fairy form and all powers.

A Fairy’s needs are a little different from a regular Sim. Fairies don’t have a Bladder or Hunger need; instead, they need Emotional Force. Fairies live and thrive off emotions; without fulfilling this need, your Fairy can die of Emotional StarvationTo fill Emotional Force, Fairies can:
  • use the Absorb Emotion interaction on other Sims
  • use the Regenerate Emotional Force interaction on themselves
  • use the Regenerate Emotional Force interaction on the Fairy Home
  • consume an Emotion Potion from the Rewards Store.
They still have some regular needs like Energy, Social, Fun, and Hygiene. You can fill these needs the same way as a regular Sim, but there are some unique ways to do this as a Fairy, too!
  • Energy: Fairies can sleep in a Piano or a Dollhouse. Select Shrink and Sleep to watch your Sim shrink down and take a nap!
  • Social: They have some Fairy-specific social interactions like Flood with Laughter.
  • Fun: Fairies can use a sink to shrink down and Splash in Water.
  • Hygiene: They can use a Mature or Blossoming Garden Plant Bush to Bathe in Nature.

Fairies have both passive and active powers. Their passive abilities are always on and impact gameplay without any action needed by you, the player. Active abilities are abilities that you control and that need Emotional Force to be used. Keeping the Emotional Force Need met is what gives Fairies the stamina to use these powers. The more your Sim uses their Fairy powers, the more experience points they’ll earn. These points can be spent on either passive or active abilities, and move your Fairy up the ranks of their power. The higher your rank, the more abilities become available to purchase. To see the different ranks of Fairy Abilities, open the Abilities Panel in the Simology Panel. There are five ranks:
  • Tier 1: Faint
  • Tier 2: Glowing
  • Tier 3: Glimmering
  • Tier 4: Brilliant
  • Tier 5: Radiant
The Fairy Mastery Panel shows the five tiers, progress, as well as Manipulation, Emotion, Nature and Customization pathways.These Fairy Abilities drain Emotional Force to use, so beware not to deplete this need too much, as your Fairy Sim can die of Emotional Starvation!To check which tier you’re on, open the Fairy Abilities Panel. Go to the Needs Panel and select the book icon beside Ability Points.The Fairy Abilities Panel is split into four sections:
  • Manipulation
  • Emotion
  • Nature
  • Customization
Using Ability Points, purchase Fairy Abilities from any of the above, or choose one direction to level up your Fairy Powers. There are some Fairy Abilities they can use without depleting Emotional Force:
  • Detect Emotion
  • Absorb Emotion
  • Regenerate Emotional Force
  • Flood with Laughter
Instantly Fly Here

Fairy Dust can be used to craft or enhance objects (and for bringing Gnomes to life!), and there are a few ways for your Sims to get some.
  • Extract your own Fairy Dust: Select your Sim and choose Fairy > Brush off Fairy Dust.
  • Ask another Fairy: Select a Fairy and choose More Choices > Fairy > Social > Ask for Fairy Dust.
Collect it: Fairies naturally shed Fairy Dust; you’ll spot small, sparkly piles of the magic dust around the Lot. Select it and choose Collect Fairy Dust.
