Master the Knitting skill in The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack. Find out how to get started, level up, unlock skill rewards, and use cheats to speed things up.
About the Knitting skill
- The Knitting skill comes with The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, Teen, and Child Sims can all build this skill.
- If you own The Sims 4 Growing Together Expansion Pack, you can also use the yarn baskets to make Friendship Bracelets.
- The Knitting skill is needed to complete the Lady/Lord of the Knits Aspiration.
- Use this skill to earn some extra Simoleons! Drag and drop your knitted creations in your Sim’s Personal Inventory to sell.
- Sims can also sell their knitted creations on Plopsy. Once a completed knit appears in a Sim’s Personal Inventory, select List on Plopsy to sell.
How to build the Knitting skill
Your Sim can boost their Knitting skill in a few different ways, from reading to crafting. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level.To start knitting, your Sim will need a yarn basket in their Personal Inventory. Buy the Super Stash Yarn Basket or the Beginner’s Yarn Basket from Build Mode to get started. Select the yarn basket and choose Put in Inventory. Now your Sim can knit anywhere! Select any chair, couch, bench, or bed and choose Knit Clothing to begin knitting. As your Sims’ skill level increases, they’ll unlock new objects and items of clothing to knit.When your Sim has finished knitting something, it will appear in their Personal Inventory, where they can sell or gift the Item. Knitting an item of clothing like a beanie or a sweater will also unlock this item in Create a Sim. For Newborn Onsies, once knitted, these unlock and can be assigned to a Newborn through the bassinet.
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up, select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.
- Knitting Vol 1: k2tog & The Basics of Yarn
- Knitting Vol 2: The Diagonal Lace Stripe Stitch & Friends
- Knitting Vol 3: Knitting Backwards With Your Eyes Closed
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Knitting. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Knitting skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Knitting skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Knitting skill levels
As your Sim builds the Knitting skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Knit Animal Clothing
- Knit Beanies for all life stages
At this level, your Sim can Knit Socks for Children and older.
At this level, your Sim can Knit Objects:
- Knit Hanging Plant Holders
- Knit Mailbox Cozies
At this level, your Sim can Knit Rugs.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Knit Sweaters
- Mentor others in this skill
At this level, your Sim can Knit Poufs.
At this level, your Sim can Knit Decorations like Cacti, Pengyubs Octopi, and Turtles.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Knit Toddler Onsies
- Knit Baby Onesies
At this level, your Sim can Knit Sweaters with Scarfs.
At this level, your Sim can Knit Child Toys.
Knitting skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_knitting 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Knitting skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
