Master the Medium skill in The Sims 4 to unlock séances, summon Bonehilda, and pursue a career as a Paranormal Investigator. Whether you’re building the skill through classes, summoning spirits, or using cheats, this guide has all the steps you need to help your Sims communicate with the dead.
About the Medium skill
- The Medium skill comes with The Sims 4 Paranormal Stuff Pack, and is a 5 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, Teen, and Child Sims can all build this skill.
- If you own The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Game Pack, Spellcasters gain the Medium skill faster than other Sims.
- The Medium skill is needed for the Paranormal Investigator branch of the Freelancer career.
How to build Medium skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Medium skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level of skill.Buy the Séance Table from Build Mode. Using this, you can Commune With The Departed, Perform Ceremony, and Sense Spiritual Volatility.Sims can only use the Sense Spiritual Volatility and Perform Ceremony interactions in a house that has the Haunted House Lot Trait. To set this:
- 1Open Build Mode.
- 2At the top left, select the house icon with the i inside to open Venue Info.
- 3In the Lot Type drop-down, choose Haunted House Residential.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill classes are only available between 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Medium. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain Medium skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Medium skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Medium skill levels
As your Sim builds the Medium skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. There are 5 levels to the Medium skill.A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
This level unlocks:
- Commune with the Departed
- Sense Spiritual Volatility
- Perform a Ceremony
The Group Séance interaction unlocks.
This level unlocks:
- Summon Bonehilda
- Invoke the Dead
The Ghastly Rituals interaction unlocks. Performing this interaction can temporarily turn your Sim into a Ghost!
The Create Séance Circle interaction unlocks. You can’t perform a Group Séance using the Séance Circle, these can only be done at the Séance Table.At level 5 your Sim will max out the Medium skill. They can:
- perform more powerful séances with less Energy loss
- gain an increased chance of successfully interacting with Specters
- and they’re eligible to get a Paranormal Investigator License.
Medium skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level minor_medium 3 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Medium skill up to level 3.PC and Mac
