Ready to scale new heights? In The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Expansion Pack, your Sim can take on the Rock Climbing skill, essential for summiting the snowy peaks of Mt. Komorebi. This guide covers everything from how to train and level up, where to find every Rock Climbing wall, what each level unlocks, and even skill cheats to help you climb faster.
About the Rock Climbing skill
- The Rock Climbing skill comes with The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Expansion Pack, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, and Teen Sims can all build this skill.
- Your Sim needs to have at least a level 6 in the Rock Climbing skill to summit Mt. Komorebi.
- Leveling up in the Rock Climbing skill also increases your Sim’s Fitness skill.
- The Bracing Breezes Lot Trait increases how fast your Sim builds this skill.
How to build the Rock Climbing skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Rock Climbing skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level of skill.To begin rock climbing, Sims can use the climbing wall locations scattered around the Yukimatsu neighborhood in Mt. Komorebi. Make sure to select Inspect Climbing Wall Conditions before climbing. Bad conditions can injure Sims.There are three heights of climbing wall.Each climbing wall offers two climbing options:
- Small climbing wall
- To the left of the 5-1-1 Kiyomatsu Lot, near the Bunny Slopes.
- Medium climbing wall
- Behind the upper part of the ski lift. Travel to any Lot in Yukimatsu to reach it.
- Tall climbing wall
- Only available during a Mountain Climb Excursion Event.
- One-Time: Climb Cautiously, Climb Courageously, Climb Down, Climb Normally.
- Your Sim will only climb the wall once.
- Continuous: Breaking Point Session, Meticulous Session, Practice Session.
- Your Sim will continuously climb the wall.
Before climbing outdoors, your Sim needs climbing gear to increase their success rate. On a computer, select Order > Adventure Gear > Purchase Climbing Gear (§450).Note: Gear wears out, but Sims can Repair or Replace it.
Once your Sim reaches level 6 of this skill, they can attempt the Mountain Climb Excursion. This Event is split into two sections, with each having a timed reward event that scores your progress. You’ll need to earn at least a Silver to summit the mountain.Tips for success:Climbing Mt. Komorebi is thrilling but risky. Make sure your Sim is prepared before taking on the challenge, as they can die attempting the climb. Check out our death guide for more info.
- 1Check the weather: Select the Info Board near the small climbing wall and choose Check Conditions on Mt. Komorebi.
- 2Open the phone and select the Social app.
- 3Choose Mountain Climb Excursion.
- 4Select an Excursion Leader and at least one Excursion Team Member.
- At least two Sims need to climb the mountain.
- 5The event begins at the Sutefani Onsen Bathhouse Lot in Yukimatsu.
- 6Climb the medium wall behind the ski lift for the first trail marker.
- 7Follow trail markers all the way to the summit!
- The higher your Sim’s rock climbing skill, the higher their success rate will be.
- Craft Energy Bars (unlocks at level 7) and Protein Bars (unlocks at level 9) to keep Hunger and Energy needs high.
- Equip Climbing Gear before each climb.
- Use Chalk Hands and Pre-Climb Stretch interactions.
- If you own The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat Game Pack, put a tent in your Sim’s Personal Inventory so you can rest at intervals.
If you own The Sims 4 Fitness Stuff Pack, you can use the rock wall to level up your skill and practice at home or at the gym. If you don’t own The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Expansion Pack, this will only build the Fitness skill.
- 1Buy the Top Hitz Rock Climbing Wall from Build Mode.
- 2Select it and choose Climb or Endurance Challenge Climb.
- Each of these has different options to choose from depending on your Sim’s skill level.
Reading skill books will work towards building skills, but is slower than other methods. Books will only get you as far as level 9 of a skill. To buy skill books:The skill books are:
- 1Select a bookshelf and choose Purchase Books.
- 2In the pop-up select the drop-down at the top-left that reads Show All.
- 3Choose Skill and scroll through to find the book you want to buy. These will be added to your Sim’s bookshelf.

- Rock Climbing Vol 2: Getting Boulder
- Rock Climbing Vol 3: Looking Down on Everyone
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Rock Climbing. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Rock Climbing skill while in class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Rock Climbing skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Rock Climbing skill levels
As your Sim builds the Rock Climbing skill, they’ll unlock new abilities and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
This level unlocks:
- Climbing up and down small climbing walls
- The ability to Equip Climbing Gear and Remove Climbing Gear
This level unlocks:
- Climbing the small height Climbing Route Courageously
- Breaking Point Climbing Session
- New Snow Goggles
This level unlocks:
- Pre-Climb Stretching
- Attempt to climb medium height Climbing Routes
This level unlocks:
- The Chalk Hands ability, which improves your Sim’s climbing success
- More ways to climb the medium height Climbing Routes
This level unlocks:
- Climbing Suit
- Break Point Climbing Sessions on the medium height Climbing Routes
This level unlocks:
- The ability for your Sim to Push Themself when attempting to climb the tallest Climbing Route
- Beta of a Route social interaction unlocks with other Sims
This level unlocks the ability to:
- Self-craft Energy Bars. Making these will help your Sim on long Mountain Excursions.
- Select your Sim and choose Rock Climbing > Make Energy Bar. They’ll need 1 Apple and 1 Cherry in their Personal Inventory to make these.
- Climb Cautiously on the tallest Climbing Route
This level unlocks the ability to:
- Practice on tall Climbing Routes
This level unlocks the ability to:Select your Sim and choose Rock Climbing > Make Protein Bar. They’ll need 1 Blackberry and 1 Strawberry in their Personal Inventory to make these.
- Climb Courageously on the tallest Climbing Route
- Self-craft Protein Bars. Making these will help your Sim on long Mountain Excursions.
This level unlocks the ability to:
- Coach Rock Climbing to other Sims
- Offer Rock Climbing Tips to other Sims
Rock Climbing skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_rockclimbing 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Rock Climbing skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
