Overview
Master the Singing skill in The Sims 4: City Living and take your Sim’s vocals from shower solos to sold-out performances. Whether you want to sing karaoke, serenade Sims, or license your own lyrics, this guide walks you through everything. Discover cheats, how to practice singing, what songs become available at each level, and compatibility with other instruments.
About the Singing skill
- The Singing skill comes with The Sims 4 City Living Expansion Pack, and is a 10 level skill.
- Elder, Adult, Young Adult, and Teen Sims can all build this skill.
- The Singing skill is needed to complete the City Native Aspiration.
- This skill can be combined with other musical skills. At certain levels of Piano and Guitar, your Sim can sing as they play. Doing this will build both skills at once.
- Looking for a side hustle? At level 9 of this skill, your Sim can license and sell songs they’ve written to earn Simoleons. Also, if your Sim sings on non-residential Lots like a Bar or Lounge, they can earn tips!
- Singing in public will also boost your Sim’s Fame level if you own The Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack.
- The Great Acoustics Lot Trait increases how fast your Sim builds this skill.
How to build the Singing skill
There are multiple ways for your Sim to build the Singing skill. Some interactions are only unlocked when your Sim reaches a certain level of skill.The easiest way to build this skill is to start singing! There are a few ways to do this.
- Self-select your Sim and choose Practice Singing.
- Select a Microphone and choose Practice Singing.
- Sing Solo or Duet using the Karaoke Machine.
- Sing in the Shower—this unlocks at level 2.
- Sing while playing Guitar and Piano—this unlocks at level 3 of those skills.
If you own The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack, your Sim can attend skill-building classes. These are rabbit-holes, so your Sim will leave the Lot for some time and then come back when the class is over. Note: Skill Classes are only available between 9 a.m.– 9 p.m.
- 1In Live Mode, select your Sim’s phone.
- 2Open the Business app (the briefcase icon).
- 3Choose Sit in on Skill Class (§250).
- 4In the pop-up menu, choose Singing. Your Sim will leave the Lot and gain the Singing skill while at the class.
If you own The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack, your Sim can learn or teach the Singing skill using the Sharing is Caring Whiteboard. You’ll find this in Build Mode.
Singing skill levels
As your Sim builds the Singing skill, they’ll unlock new rewards, abilities, and interactions along the way. A green progress bar will appear above your Sim’s head and gradually fill up as they’re building a skill. You can also check their progress by:- 1Entering Live Mode.
- 2Selecting the Sim Panel (bottom left).
- 3Selecting the Skills tab.
At this level, your Sim can Sing Solo at the karaoke machine.They can also Sing Duet Country on the karaoke machine.
- Pop: Fun Tonight and Fool’s Prayer
- Jazz: Classic Beauty and Shaken, Not Stirred
- House: Weekender and For Your Love
At this level, your Sim can:
- Rave about Favorite Singers to other Sims
- Sing in the Shower
- Duet Pop songs with other Sims on the karaoke machine
- Sing Rock songs solo on the karaoke machine: Hotter than Sin and Night After Night
- Sing Folk songs by self-selecting your Sim: London Bridge is Falling Down, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
- They can also Sing Folk songs on the Microphone, and on the Piano and Guitar at level three of these skills.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Serenade other Sims romantically
- Duet Jazz songs with other Sims on the karaoke machine
- Sing Country songs solo on the karaoke machine: Nectar Drinking Land and Run to Palomino
- Sing Pop songs by self-selecting your Sim
- Sing Pop songs on the Piano, Guitar, or Microphone.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Duet Ballad songs with other Sims on the karaoke machine
- Sing Disco songs solo on the karaoke machine: Funky Sims and Hot Summer.
At this level, your Sim can:
- mentor other Sims in this skill
- Sing Jazz songs on the Piano, Guitar, or Microphone
- Sing Jazz songs by self-selecting your Sim.
At this level, your Sim will notice an increase in their karaoke scores.
At this level, your Sim can Sing Theater Drama songs by self-selecting your Sim, or on the Piano, Guitar, or Microphone: A Hero’s Journey, Epilogue, and Pancake’s End.
At this level, your Sim can:
- Write Lyrics by selecting the Microphone, and on the Guitar, or Piano, at level three of these skills
- sing completed written lyrics by self-selecting your Sim
At this level, your Sim can License Lyrics that they’ve written using the Mailbox.
At this level, your Sim will notice an even bigger increase in their karaoke scores.
Singing skill cheats
When using skill cheats, type in the number of the level you want to reach. For example, putting stats.set_skill_level major_singing 7 into the cheat bar will get your Sim’s Singing skill up to level 7.PC and Mac
