Choose email, app authenticator, or text message to get a code to turn on Login Verification.

Turning on Login Verification for the first time? You’ll get your first code via email only.

After you turn on Login Verification, you can set up multiple methods to get codes.

Not getting codes to your email address?

Try resending the code. If that doesn’t work, make sure:

  • your inbox isn’t full
  • you’ve checked the spam folder
  • you or your service provider haven’t blocked us
  • you’re logged in to the right EA Account.
    • If you’re logged in to a different EA Account, your codes might go to the wrong email.

Tip: Keep your email address up to date so you can always get your codes.

If you’re still not getting your codes, look for a past email from ea@e.ea.com and allow images to be displayed. Then, resend the verification email.

How to check you’re logged in to the right EA Account

  1. Open an incognito browser window.
    • Make sure you use an incognito browser, as your normal browser can have issues with the cache.
  2. Go to your EA Account Connections settings.
  3. You can see which platforms are linked to your account on this page.

If the platform you play on isn’t linked, you probably have more than one EA Account, and the EA Account you’re playing from doesn’t have Login Verification turned on. Here’s how to fix it.

  1. Log out of your EA Account and close the browser.
  2. Open a new incognito browser.
  3. Log in to your EA Account using the individual platform login buttons.
    • For example, if you play on Xbox, select the Xbox icon and log in using your Xbox ID.
  4. Once you’ve logged in, go to your EA Account Connections settings and check that your platform is linked.
  5. Go to the Security tab.
  6. Make sure Login Verification is turned on. If you need help, follow these steps.

If you can’t access your email address

If you can’t access or remember the email address you used to make your EA Account, try these account recovery steps.

When you use the app authenticator, you’ll get a code from the Google Authenticator app whenever you need it.

  1. Pick App Authenticator when you’re setting up Login Verification, then select Continue.
  2. Choose your device from the dropdown menu.
  3. Install the Google Authenticator app for Google Play or iPhone.
  4. Open the authenticator app.
  5. Select Begin Setup.
  6. Choose how you want to set up the authenticator:
    • Choose Scan barcode to scan the QR code from your Settings.
    • Choose Manual entry to type in your EA Account’s email address and the Secret Key from your Settings.
  7. Enter the code that the authenticator gives you.
  8. Select Save.

Now when we ask you for a Login Verification code, you can open the app and enter the 6-digit code that appears.

Remember: Each code lasts for a limited time. If the timer on the code is about to run out, wait for a new code so you have enough time to enter it.

Make sure you can always access your account by having more than one Login Verification method. We can send you codes by email, text, or the app authenticator. You may only be able to use some of the options, depending on where you live.

  1. Go to your EA Account Security settings.
  2. Under Login Verification, find Preferences.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. We may ask you to verify your account. We’ll send a Login Verification code to either your email or phone number.
  5. Choose the new method you want to add to your account.
  6. Select Send Code.
  7. Use that code to activate Login Verification for a new method.

If you lose your phone, the authenticator app fails, or you can’t access your email address, backup codes are the only way to sign into your EA Account from a new device.

You can view and renew these codes in your EA Account Security settings. Go to Backup Codes and select View to find them.

Write your backup codes down and keep them in a safe place so you’ll always be able to log in when you need to.

If you no longer have access to your email or can’t log in using a connected account, we can try to recover your account. Get in touch with us.
