Overview

Looking for smoother gameplay, reduced lag, and ways to improve your aim? Learn how to optimize settings like mouse sensitivity, Field of View, EQ, and frames-per-second to improve your Apex Legends performance.

How to increase frames-per-second and performance

If you want to maximize your performance or frames-per-second (FPS), run Apex Legends on the lowest graphics settings possible. Playing the game on lower graphic settings gives your game more streaming budget to react, meaning you can get faster response times in matches. If you’re unsure where to start, try lowering a few options at a time to see how it impacts FPS. If you don’t see a setting listed here, it’s because it won’t impact your game performance.
You can show your FPS in-game while you play. Find out how to show and cap your FPS

What are the best Apex Legends mouse and controller settings?

The best settings for your controller or mouse and keyboard depend on your personal preferences. There are no wrong settings to play with, so keep experimenting to discover how new settings work when you play—find what feels most comfortable for you. Try adjusting the sensitivity setting, which you’ll find in Controller Settings or the Mouse/Keyboard tab. Low sensitivity gives you more control, while high sensitivity lets you aim more quickly.

What's the best Field of View (FOV)?

Field of View (FOV) is how far wide around yourself you can see on the screen. When your FOV is higher, you can see more around you. When you start playing Apex Legends, your FOV will be set at 70. If you set your FOV higher, you can see more of your surroundings, but far-off objects and enemies will appear smaller.To change your FOV:
  1. 1
    Go to Settings
  2. 2
    Select the Video tab.
  3. 3
Select Field of View to increase or decrease it.

How to aim better

If you want better aim on PC, here’s what you need to know.
  1. 1
Check where you’re looking. If your enemy is further away, look at the crosshairs. If an enemy is close-range, look at your enemy.
  2. 2
Predict your enemy’s movements and adjust your aim before they move.
  3. 3
Try to get your enemy in the center of your screen before you shoot.
  4. 4
Practice hip firing for fast, close-range combat.
  5. 5
Keep your crosshairs where enemies might appear, even if there’s nobody around—this can help you get the first shot.
Head to the Firing Range to practice against DUMMIEs, and try practicing shots you feel weaker at. You can also use aim trainers to practice your aim outside the game.

How to adjust equalization (EQ) Settings

Equalization (EQ) settings is a term for changing your audio settings to make certain sounds easier to hear. To change your EQ settings in Apex Legends:
  1. 1
    Go to Settings
  2. 2
    Select the Audio tab.
If you want to make it easier to hear your enemies, make sure Master Volume and Sounds EffectsVolume are at their highest. Turn down settings like:
  • Dialogue Volume
  • Music Volume
  • Lobby Music Volume
