How to diagnose game issues on your PC using DxDiag

Learn how to run a DxDiag report on your computer to help find out what’s causing issues if your PC game is running slow, crashing, or experiencing other problems.

If you’re playing on a PC and your game is crashing, running slow, or having graphic problems, first check your PC to make sure:
  • your computer meets the minimum requirements for that game
  • your graphics driver is fully updated.

How to run a DxDiag report on PC

The easiest way for us to check your PC’s hardware is for you to run a DxDiag report and attach it to your case or to a post on EA Forums

    Press the Windows key and enter ‘dxdiag’ in the search box.

    Select the dxdiag app.

    When DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens, select the Run 64-bit DxDiag button.
    • If that button doesn’t appear, move to step 6.

    Wait for the progress bar to complete and disappear. When your report is ready, select Save All Information.

    Save the file to your desktop as a text file and give it a name you’ll remember.

    Select Exit.

How to read a DxDiag report on PC

A DXDiag file gives you basic information on a player’s computer, including:
  • processor
  • memory (RAM)
  • page file size
  • graphics card
  • graphics driver version
  • graphics driver date
  • limited error messaging
  • DirectX version.
