From December 12, 2022, The Sims 4: Legacy Edition will no longer be available on PC and Mac. Your saved games are unaffected (see below).

Sims 4: Legacy Edition is a free edition of The Sims 4 and The Sims 4: Deluxe Version for players on unsupported systems who already owned the full version of the game. As of December 12, 2022, the Legacy Edition will no longer be available

Why is this happening?

As of late 2019, we no longer support The Sims 4 on Non-Metal mac OS machines or PC 32-bit Operating Systems.

Before, players could download The Sims 4: Legacy Edition and would be able to play on these operating systems with some limitations. Now, we’re saying goodbye to Legacy Edition, so this option is no longer available.

How to keep playing The Sims 4

To continue playing The Sims 4, make sure you’re using a Metal macOS version, macOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or above. You’ll need to update the operating system to a Metal macOS on your current device, or install and run the game on a different device that has a Metal Macintosh operating system.

Find out more about Metal Macintosh systems from Apple Developer.

PC Players (32-bit)

To continue playing The Sims 4, update your operating system to 64-bit on your current device, or install and run the game on a different device that has a 64-bit Windows operating system.

Find out more about 32 and 64-bit Windows operating systems from Windows Support.

PC Players (64-bit)

To continue playing The Sims 4, when using a 64-bit PC, load The Sims as you usually would and the EA app will launch the full version of the game.

Read our guide on downloading games using the EA app.

Mods used with Legacy Edition may not be compatible with the full version of the game.

Follow our guide to checking your mods by adding in batches to make sure they work properly.
