If you have an adult EA Account, you can link your teens’ accounts to yours so you can be more in control of how much they’re spending.

There’s no limit to how many teen accounts you can add to your Family account.

You can only link teen accounts to adult accounts. You can’t link adult accounts to other adult accounts.

What’s a teen account?

The age for a teen account varies by country. Once a teen account has been created, you or your teen can request to link their account to your account to create your Family account.

Teen accounts have default spending limits, whether or not they’re linked to an adult account. The only way to modify those limits is to link a teen account to a parent or guardian’s Family account.

How to link

Linking is easy. You can do it right from the EA app.

1. Launch the EA app and log in to your EA Account.
2. Click the menu icon (it looks like 3 horizontal lines) in the top corner of the app and select Settings.
3. Click Family playtime.
4. Scroll down to Family management.
5. Click Add Teen Account.
6. Enter the email address that’s linked to your teen’s EA Account.

You can also link from your EA Account and Billing settings:

1. Go to your EA Account and Billing Settings.
2. Click on the Family tab. 
3. Click Add Teen Account.
4. Enter the email address that’s linked to your teen’s EA Account.
5. Click Submit.

We’ll send an invitation to your teen’s account. They’ll need to accept the invite within 24 hours to become part of your Family account.

Remove an account from your Family

If you no longer want to have a teen account linked to your Family account, you can remove them.

From the EA app:

1. Launch the EA app and log in to your EA Account.
2. Click the menu icon (it looks like 3 horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the app and select Settings.
3. Click Family playtime.
4. Scroll down to Family management.
5. Click Manage next to the account you want to remove.
6. Scroll down to Account management.
7. Click Remove account.

From your EA Account and Billing settings:

1. Go to your EA Account and Billing Settings.
2. Click on the Family tab. 
3. Click Manage underneath the account that you want to remove.
4. Click Remove from Family.

Set up Player Controls in the EA app for your account and anyone in your Family.

There are two different Spend Limits you can change for all accounts:

• Game and expansion limit - Includes base game and deluxe edition purchases, expansion packs, and additional downloadable content (DLC).
• Microcontent limit - Includes virtual currency purchases and other purchasable content.

Your account

You can set up monthly Spend Limits for games, expansions, and microcontent. By default, your account does not have any Spend Limits set up.

To change your Spend Limits:

1. Go to your EA Account and Billing Settings.
2. Click on the Player Controls tab.
3. Click Edit next to Spend Limits.
4. Enter in how much you would like to spend monthly for game and expansion purchase as well as microcontent purchase.

Once you set a limit for how much you want to spend, you can check here to see how much you have left remaining for the month.

Your Family's teen accounts

Just like your own account, you can also change the Spend Limits for all your teens’ accounts that you’ve linked to your Family.

Want to change the default spending limits for your teen’s account? Here’s how:

1. Go to your EA Account and Billing Settings.
2. Click on the Family tab.
3. Click Manage underneath the teen’s account that you want to update.
4. Click Edit next to Spend Limits.

Here you can change the limits for games and downloadable content (DLC) as well as for microcontent purchases. You can also click Reset to Default if you want to put the settings back to how they were originally.

What isn’t controlled by Spend Limits?

The following don’t come out of your monthly spend limit:

• Purchases made with payment methods other than credit cards (e.g. EA Wallet purchases, PayPal, etc.).
• EA Play memberships and other subscriptions.
• Taxes and fees for all purchases.

We’ll charge the payment method saved to your EA Account directly for all taxes, fees, and recurring memberships and subscriptions.

Monitor how much time you or your teens spend playing games.

To track your playtime

1. Launch the EA app and log in to your EA Account.
2. Click the menu icon (it looks like 3 horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the app and select Settings.
3. Click My playtime.
4. Click Enable Playtime Tracking.

Set playtime limits for yourself

1. Open Settings.
2. Click My playtime.
3. Select Manage to set playtime limits. You can set different limits for weekdays and weekends.
4. To set different limits for each day of the week, turn on Customize daily playtime limits.

To track your teens’ playtimes

1. Open Settings.
   
2. Click Family playtime.

Here, you’ll see how much time your teens have logged playing their games.

Setting playtime limits for teen accounts

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Family playtime.
3. Find the teen account you want to set playtime limits for, and click Manage.
4. This will open the playtime dashboard for the teen account. Scroll down and select Manage.
5. Turn on Manage player controls to set playtime limits for weekdays and weekends.
6. You can set different limits for each day of the week by turning on Customize daily playtime limits.
