Find out how to use cross-play in Battlefield 6, plus how to add friends or turn off cross-play.

What’s cross-play?

Cross-play lets you play Battlefield with players on different platforms. For example, if you play on Xbox, cross-play lets you play with someone using a PlayStation®5. Cross-play is available on:
  • PC
  • PlayStation®5
  • Xbox X|S.
If you play on a console, cross-play matchmaking will prioritize other players on console. You’ll only be matched with PC players if there aren’t enough players on console.

How to use cross-play in Battlefield 6

Cross-play is turned on by default when you start playing Battlefield 6. You can play with people you know by adding them as friends in-game.

How to add friends in Battlefield 6

  1. 1
    Open Battlefield 6.
  2. 2
Press R2, RT, or TAB to open EA Connect.
  3. 3
    Scroll to Player search
  4. 4
Type your friend’s EA or platform ID into the search bar.
  5. 5
    Select Done
  6. 6
Scroll to find your friend, then select Add friend
  7. 7
Your friend will get a friend request which they can accept in the Friend requests tab.
Once you’ve added a friend, they’ll appear in the EA Connect Friends tab. You can then invite them to your party in the Party tab to play together. If you add a platform friend as an EA friend, you’ll be able to keep playing together if they use a different platform.

How to turn off cross-play

You can only view and change your cross-play settings on Xbox and PlayStation® consoles.
  1. 1
    Open Battlefield 6.
  2. 2
Select the cog. This will take you to the settings menu.
  3. 3
    Select System
  4. 4
    Under Setup, toggle Cross-play off.
If you turn cross-play off, you can only play with people using the same platform as you. You can’t change your cross-play settings if you’re in a party, a server, or have started matchmaking.
