How does the character transfer work?
Character transfers in SW:TOR lets you move your character to a different game server. It costs 1,000 Cartel Coins per character. Cartel Coins are the only currency that you can use to pay for a Character Transfer.- 1Log in to your account on swtor.com
- 2Go to Character Transfer on your account page.
- 3Select Show Restrictions to read transfer limitations and requirements. Read transfer limitations and requirements
- 4Select the source server where your character is and select Choose Character.
- 5Choose the character you want to transfer, then select Choose Destination.
- 6Select the server you want to move to and you’ll see the current price for the transfer.
- 7Select Transfer Character. The system will check if the transfer is possible and flag any in-game mail for deletion.
- 8Select Start Transfer to continue and pay with Cartel Coins. You'll see an estimated completion time.
- 9You can also cancel the transfer by selecting Back or closing the page.
Transferring a character created with Commander’s Token to another server is permanent.
Frequently asked questions about SW:TOR character transfer
Your Stronghold stays on the original server because it’s tied to your Legacy there. If you bought it with Credits, you’ll need to purchase it again on the new server. If you purchased it with another currency, you'll need to reactivate and redecorate it.
The system compares your Decorations, awarding the highest number of unlocks. If you don’t have a Legacy on the new server, you’ll create one and bring all Decorations. If they don’t appear, log out and back in to make them available in Edit Mode.
No, they don’t. This includes Credits and Legacy-bound currencies like Galactic Seasons tokens.
- Your in-game mail won’t transfer. This includes unread and read mail.
- Read and move your mailed items to your inventory before transferring.
- Your stamped outfits in Outfitter will reset.
- You'll need to set these up again on your new server.
- Cartel Pack items from your Item Stash won’t transfer.
- Your progress in Galactic Seasons won’t transfer.
- The Materials tab in your Inventory is tied to your Legacy on your initial server and its contents won’t transfer.
- Your Friends and Ignore list won’t transfer. Those lists are server-specific.
- Your Galactic Trade Network listings won’t transfer. Make sure your characters have no items listed on the Galactic Trade Network before your transfer.
You'll need to rename your character if the name is taken. You'll be asked to do so when you next log in to that character.
Your currently active loadout and your saved Loadouts all transfer with your character.
The Legacy that’s at a higher level will become your new Legacy. This has no effect on unlocks, but the unlocks from both Legacies will combine.For example, if you transfer a character who is in a level 27 Legacy from Tulak Hord to the Leviathan, but you currently have a level 13 Legacy, you’ll have a level 27 Legacy on the Leviathan. This combines the unlocks from both servers after the transfer.
No, each member has to transfer individually and recreate the guild on the new server.
