Playing The Sims 4 on console? Here’s everything you need to know about playing on Xbox or PlayStation®, including some tips and tricks if you’re having issues.
What’s the difference between The Sims 4 on PC and console?
The Sims 4 on console is a separate version of the game, so your progress on PC or Mac isn’t shared across platforms. This means your Sims, Lots, and Households won’t carry over.If you own The Sims 4 on PC or Mac, and want to play on Xbox or PlayStation®, you’ll need to download the console version. The Sims 4 Base Game is free to play on all platforms. The following features aren’t available on the console version of The Sims 4:- custom content support
- mod support
- live events
- in-game screen capture
- in-game video capture
- the ability to tag memories
- the ability to reminisce about a memory.

What are the different console editions?
- The Sims 4 Deluxe Party Edition includes:
- The Sims 4 Base Game
- Life of the Party digital content
- Up All Night digital content
- Awesome Animal Hats digital content.
- The Sims 4 Standard Edition includes:
- The Sims 4 Base Game.
Can I upgrade to the Deluxe Edition?
Yes, turn your Standard into a Deluxe Edition on the PlayStation® Store or Xbox Store.
What Packs can I buy?
All Expansion, Game, and Stuff Packs are available to play on PlayStation® and Xbox.

Console controls for The Sims 4
Need help with your game controls? Try turning on the Controls Overlay Reminder. It should be on by default, but here’s how to toggle it off or back on.- 1In Game Options, open the Other menu.
- 2Disable the Controls Overlay Reminder.
- 3Uncheck Show Controls Legend.
How to open the cheat bar on console
Heads-up: If you use testingcheats, achievements will be disabled for the current save game.
Xbox
PlayStation®
- 1Press the left and right triggers and bumpers (LT + RT + LB + RB) all at the same time to open the cheat codes console.
- 2Type in testingcheats on and press A to activate cheats.
- 3Enter the cheat you want to use and press A.
- 4Close the cheat code console with the same four buttons you used to open it.
Missing Content
The Main Menu on the console version of The Sims 4 is different from PC. To find downloadable content, go to the Manage game section.Redeem your game code for your PlayStation® or Xbox version of The Sims 4: Deluxe Party Edition and the game will download the following DLC content:- Awesome Animal Hats
- Life of the Party
- Perfect Patio
- Up All Night.
Missing Awesome Animal Hats
- 1Enter Create a Sim.
- 2Check the Hats section and you’ll see the Awesome Animal Hats content.
Missing Life of the Party or Up All Night
- 1Locate these items in Build Mode once you’re set up in a house or plot of land.
- 2Look under Objects by the Function section.
- 3Within Function, look under the Electronics section.
- 4View all Electronics or look under MISC. You’ll see the Let There Be Light Laser Show objects.
Missing Perfect Patio Stuff

Digital copies should install as soon as your download is done. If that doesn’t happen, try these steps to manually install:Xbox
PlayStation®
- 1Navigate to your Download History from the main Xbox Menu.
- 2Select the The Sims 4 file and press the menu button.
- 3Select Install.
- Delete or manually uninstall any files that made it through the installation process, then download and install your game again.
- Once you install your game, restart your game or console. This makes sure your system checks for game updates.
