Everything you need to know about having a baby in The Sims 4.
The odds of your Sim having twins or triplets is much lower than having a single birth. But through some gameplay tricks, you can make it more likely that your Sim will have a multiple birth.
- Twins: your Sim has a 10% chance of having twins.
- Triplets: your Sim has a 1% chance of having triplets.
There are lots of ways to increase the chance that you Sim will have twins or triplets. Only one of these methods is included in the base game, while the rest are part of additional Packs.
Remember that none of these methods guarantee your Sim will get pregnant with twins or triplets; they just increase your chances!
Base Game
How to have twins and triplets in the Base Game.
- To have the Sim you want to get pregnant with twins or triplets more likely, buy the fertile trait in the rewards store for 3,000 satisfaction points. These are earned through completing Whims.
- Open the Aspirations menu. You’ll find it in the bottom right panel. Then, click on the Rewards Store.
- Select the option with the baby bottle icon called Fertile.
Buying this trait also increases the chances of the Try for Baby interaction working straight away.
Outdoor Retreat
How to have twins and triplets in Outdoor Retreat.
If you own the Outdoor Retreat Game Pack, you can make the Elixir of Fertility which will increase the chance of twins or triplets.
Your Sim must be a Level 10 in the Herbalism skill. To create this herbal remedy, your Sim will need these ingredients:
- 1 Blackberry
- 1 Dust Spirit
- 2 False Morel
- 3 Morel Mushrooms.
These items can be found around the world of Granite Falls.
To brew the remedy, your Sim needs to have all of the necessary ingredients in their inventory. Then, approach a stove, BBQ, or cauldron to brew up the potion.
Spa Day
How to have twins and triplets in Spa Day.
If you own the Spa Day Game Pack, you can have your Sim get a Fertility Massage, which will increase their chances of conceiving, as well as having twins or triplets.
- Click the Get a Massage option on the massage bed.
- Choose Get a Fertility Massage. You can do this at the spa or on your home lot, but the Sim performing the massage must be a Level 9 in the Wellness Skill.
After the massage, your Sim will have a new moodlet, Fertility Boost, which lasts for around 12 in-game hours. Have your Sim Try for a Baby during this time to increase the chances of conceiving twins or triplets.
City Living
How to have twins and triplets in City Living.
With the City Living Expansion Pack comes a brand new lot trait, On Ley Line. Lot traits can be edited in Build Mode, in the Venue Info menu found at the top left of the screen.
- With the Venue Info menu open click on the question mark icon to view the Traits Panel. This will bring up any traits your lot currently has and lets you edit them.
- Choose the On Ley Line lot trait. Using this trait means that twins and triplets are more likely when your Sim chooses the Try for Baby action.
Not only can your Sims increase their chances of having twins and triplets, certain activities can also affect the gender of their child. By trying some of the methods below, you can increase the chance of having a boy or a girl, but it’s not always 100% guaranteed to work.
First up, your Sim will need to be pregnant already, then you can try some of the ways to influence the gender.
To have a girl:
- Listening to the Pop Music genre. To do this, find a stereo your Sim is near and click Listen to and then choose Pop.
- Eating strawberries. If your Sim eats strawberries while pregnant, this can increase their chance of having a girl. Strawberries can be bought at a market stall (if you own Cottage Living or City Living), you can grow them yourself (by purchasing seeds if you have Seasons), or you can find wild strawberries growing around the neighborhood (Willow Creek is the best spot to find some).
To have a boy:
- Listening to the Alternative Music genre. To do this, find a stereo your Sim is near and click Listen to and then choose Alternative.
- Eating carrots. If your Sim eats carrots while pregnant , this can increase their chance of having a boy. They can be bought at a market stall (if you own Cottage Living or City Living), you can grow them yourself (by purchasing seeds if you have Seasons), or you can find carrots growing wild around the neighborhood (Oasis Springs is the best spot to find some).
