How does EA Play work with Xbox Game Pass?

You get EA Play with your subscription if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Here’s how it works.

What is EA Play?

EA Play is a gaming membership that lets you play some of EA’s best games and gives you exclusive perks and benefits.

If you join EA Play on Xbox and want to play online or connect to multiplayer, you’ll also need an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Learn more about Xbox subscription options.

What is Xbox Game Pass and how does it work with EA Play?

Xbox Game Pass is a subscription program for Xbox and PC that lets you play hundreds of games.

Some Xbox Game Pass memberships include EA Play.

  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
    • Gives you Game Pass membership benefits on both Xbox and PC.
    • Includes EA Play for Xbox and EA Play for PC on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or Windows via the EA app.
  • Xbox PC Game Pass
    • Gives you Game Pass membership benefits on PC only.
    • Includes EA Play for PC on Windows via the EA app.

To use EA Play on PC, you’ll need to download the EA app.

These Xbox Game Pass memberships don’t include EA Play.

  • Xbox Game Pass Core
  • Xbox Game Pass Standard

EA Play Pro is only available through the EA app and isn’t included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox PC Game Pass.

Things to know about Xbox Game Pass and EA Play

Here’s some helpful info to know about using EA Play with your Xbox Game Pass membership.

How to connect Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to EA Play on PC

If you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership and are playing on Windows for the first time, you need to connect your Xbox console account with your PC to access EA Play.

  1. Download the Xbox app on your PC and sign in using your Xbox console account.
  2. Launch a game from The Play List through the Xbox app on your PC. You’ll then be able to use the EA app going forward.

Where to use your 10% discount on EA digital content
  • Your Xbox Game Pass subscription gives you a full EA Play membership, which includes 10% off of games, DLC, and more.
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can use their discount in the Microsoft Store or the EA app Store.
  • Xbox PC Game Pass members can only use their discount in the EA app Store.
  • Additional Xbox Game Pass member discounts don’t apply to EA digital content.

What happens to pre-existing EA Play for Xbox memberships
  • If you already have an EA Play for Xbox membership and join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, your EA Play membership on Xbox will be automatically canceled.
  • Any remaining time is rounded up and converted to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time at a ratio of 3:1.
    • For example, if you have 90 days left on your EA Play for Xbox membership, it’ll convert to 30 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

What happens to pre-existing EA Play for PC memberships
  • If you joined EA Play for PC through the EA app and later get an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass membership, any time left on your EA Play membership won’t be converted to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass time.
  • EA Play Pro isn’t available on Xbox. If you have an EA Play Pro membership on PC, it can’t be transferred to Xbox.
