Learn more about ping and how it can affect your gameplay experience.

Ping, along with jitter and packet loss, is one of the key things we check to measure your Connection Quality in EA SPORTS FC™.

For a smooth online gaming experience, it’s important that your game data moves quickly and consistently. A low ping means that packets of game data are traveling to and from the EA SPORTS FC™ Game Data Center quickly. A high ping can result in slower delivery of game data.

Ping measures how long it takes for game data to be sent from your console or PC to the EA SPORTS FC™ Game Data Center and back. This is sometimes referred to as “latency.”

The lower your ping is, the faster your game data can make the full trip and for the actions that you trigger on a controller to happen in-game.

When your ping gets higher, you may start to notice a delay between pressing a button and the corresponding in-game action. At very high ping levels, you may start to see other issues, like visual lag. You may even get disconnected from your match if it’s taking the game data too long to make the trip, since the game can no longer continue if it doesn’t have the required game data.
