What is cross-play?

Cross-play lets you play your game with friends who play on different platforms.

What is cross-progression?

Cross-progression lets you access your game progress on different platforms. For example, you could play the same save file of a game on an Xbox and a PlayStation®.

Some games only offer cross-progression for certain game modes, or may only let you transfer progress across console generations. For example, you might only be able to transfer progress from a PlayStation®4 to a PlayStation®5.

You might know cross-progression by a different name, or might know similar terms like:

• cross-platform, where games are available on multiple platforms
• cross-gen, where games can be played on different consoles from the same manufacturer
• dual entitlement, where you can upgrade a copy of your game to the next console from the same manufacturer. For example, you might be able to upgrade your game from Xbox One to Xbox X|S.

How does cross-progression work?

If your game has cross-progression, you’ll automatically be able to use it. You don’t need to do anything to be able to use cross-progression.
