Your guide to Grand Arena in STAR WARS™: Galaxy of Heroes

Find out all about Grand Arena, the latest PvP game mode in STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes. It’s kind of like a series of mini, 1-vs-1 Territory Wars, but brings you even more action with players from across the Galaxy.

How can I play?

When a Grand Arena event is active:

  • be level 85
  • join before the first round of the event starts.

Grand Arena matches players across the entire game. You’ll get to play against people you’ve never fought before as part of this event. Event schedules are posted in the Event Calendar thread on the SWGoH forums. (There’ll be a new thread each month.)

How does Grand Arena work?

Events last for three rounds.

At the start of an event, you get matched with other players in groups of eight based on your Galactic Power.

How do the rounds work?

  • Round 1: You’re matched with another player at random.
  • Round 2 and 3: You’re matched against another player with the same win/loss record.

Like in Territory Wars, you earn Banners for successfully attacking your opponent’s territory and for defending your own. Whoever has the most Banners at the end of an event wins. We’ve set Banners up so that the chances of tying are low, but if it happens, the player with the highest Galactic Power wins.

The four phases of Grand Arena

You’ll be familiar with these phases from Territory Wars.

  • Join and preview: This is the only time you can join an event. You can’t join after it has started.
  • Setup: Choose your defensive squads on your side of the map. Units that are placed in defensive squads aren’t available for use in the attack phase.
  • Attack: Choose squads from your available (undeployed) Units and attack your opponent’s defenses.
  • Review: Check out your results and see where you want to change up strategies next time.

A few things change for each event, like:

  • the number of defensive slots available on your territory, which depends on your Galactic Power
  • the number of territories on a map, usually two or four
  • the number of characters per squad, usually three or five
  • sometimes ships are included as available Units.
What about rewards?

There’s a bunch of opportunities for Rewards throughout the event, including:

  • small rewards for every squad you beat
  • rewards for based on rounds won and lost
  • event Rank based rewards for the number of wins you have.
