Troubleshoot The Grounds connection issues in EA SPORTS FC™ 27

Overview

Connection issues in The Grounds can happen when you play with friends in another region, disconnect from a match, or return from Rush or 11v11 Drop-In. Learn what affects your connection, how to rejoin friends, and what happens to Accelerated Match Performance items (Amps) if you disconnect.

How does Connection Quality work in The Grounds?

The Grounds uses online worlds that can hold up to 100 players.To keep players together, The Grounds dynamically manages these worlds as the number of players changes. This can include creating or splitting worlds and moving players to a nearby active world during quieter periods.When you join The Grounds, the game aims to place you in a world that best fits your region and ping site. Your player stats aren’t used to choose your Grounds world.When you queue for an in-world match, like a 1v1, you’re matched with players from your current Grounds world.The Grounds supports cross-play between PC, PlayStation®5, and XBOX Series X|S.

How does Connection Quality affect exploring The Grounds?

High ping may be less noticeable while you’re exploring The Grounds than when you’re playing a football match.Players don’t collide with each other while exploring the world, so small delays may have less impact on your movement. High latency can still affect how smoothly you see other players moving around your world.When you enter a match, Connection Quality has a more direct impact on gameplay responsiveness.

Playing The Grounds with friends in other regions

You can join a Grounds world with friends from other regions or ping sites.When players in your group are far apart, the game may not be able to use the ideal ping site for everyone. This can result in higher ping or other connection issues for some players.If you notice a difference in Connection Quality when playing with friends in another region, try playing separately and compare your connection to find the best world to join.

How does rejoining work after a disconnection in a Clubs 11v11 match?

Some Clubs matches support Hot Join, which lets disconnected players rejoin a Clubs 11v11 match in progress.If you disconnect, another player may Hot Join and take the available spot before you return. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.You might also need to make your way through The Grounds before trying to rejoin.

How does rejoining work after disconnecting from Rush or 11v11 Drop-In?

Entering Rush Stadium, the Clubhouse, or 11v11 Drop-In takes you out of your current Grounds world.When you return to The Grounds, you and your friends may not return to the same world. If this happens, re-invite each other to get back into the same Grounds world.

Can I change my region or ping in The Grounds?

No. There isn’t an in-game setting to choose a Grounds server, lock your region, or set a maximum ping.The game aims to find the best fit for your region and ping site.

How do Amps work when I get disconnected?

Accelerated Match Performance items (Amps) are consumed at the end of an eligible match.Intentionally disconnecting doesn’t prevent an Amp from being used. If an opponent or teammate disconnects early, your Amp will not be consumed either.
