Learn how to help keep your account safe on select EA services and play by the rules in Madden NFL Football.

We want to make sure that year after year, Madden NFL Football and Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) stay fair and fun for everyone. Here are some quick tips and rules that we have to do just that.

It’s easy! Check out our article on playing by the EA rules.

There are a few specific rules that we want you to be aware of for Madden, so you and other players have the best experience possible. We have these rules to keep things fun and fair for everyone that plays Madden, and anyone that breaks them can get banned. Avoid getting banned by keeping things honest and by not cheating.

Here’s how to play by the rules:

Don’t hack other players’ accounts

It might seem like a no-brainer, but accessing another player’s account is completely against the rules. Hackers will be banned from the Auction House and trade block.

We will never ask for your passwords for any accounts, including Xbox Live gamertag or PlayStation™Network online ID (PSN ID). If anyone tries to get that information from you, know that it’s not us.

Learn more about phishing and how to avoid it, and set up Login Verification to help keep your account safe.

Don’t buy Coins

Buying Coins from a third-party is against our rules.

You can earn MUT Coins by playing MUT and buying and selling cards in the Auction House.

Here are a few ways to earn Coins legitimately:

  • Play games in Ultimate Team.
  • Complete solo challenges
  • Buy and sell players in the Auction House.

Buying Coins from third-parties affects the player economy when the prices of items in the Auction House increase and become unaffordable. When Coin Buyers buy cheap items in the Auction House, they take away the opportunity to buy affordable items from players who earned their Coins legitimately.

If you buy Coins, you’re at risk for having your account information stolen by phishers. Coin Sellers need account login information to give out Coins, so they can remove players and Coins, too. Then they’ll turn around and make a profit off of the items they steal and hack someone else. Help keep your account safe and don’t give your login information to anyone. You can also get banned if you buy Coins.

Buying “mule” accounts or performing comfort trades is also not allowed. These things are against our gameplay rules because they have a negative impact on the game economy, and they damage gameplay for you and other players. When in doubt, don’t do it.

Don’t farm Coins

Coin farming is when you get Coins fast and illegitimately, either by using bots in the Auction House or by tricking the game into thinking you’re playing matches when you aren’t.

Using any sort of Auction House bots or disconnection methods in-game breaks our rules.

Don’t distribute or sell Coins

Coin selling and distribution inflates the Madden economy. That means disrupting the safe buying and selling environment that legitimate players are trying to use to get the players they need for their Ultimate Team.

Selling Coins can get your account banned.

Having multiple accounts and funneling MUT Coins and Items to your main account breaks our rules, too.

Don’t promote Coin buying and selling

Promoting Coin buying and selling, anywhere, breaks our rules.

Don’t buy any in-game content from third-parties

Just like Coins, buying any in-game content from third-parties is against our rules. That includes any Player Cards.

Don’t abuse or bot in the Auction House

Using bots or abusing the Auction House in any way gives an unfair advantage and hurts the experience for you and other players. It can also negatively affect the affordability of items that are for sale in the Auction House, making it harder for legitimate players to enjoy the game.

Don’t make false claims

Making a false claim to EA Advisors or any other EA representative is against our gameplay rules. Breaking the rules makes it hard to provide a fun, safe, and secure environment for you and all players.

Don’t cheat in-game

Cheating can include, but isn’t limited to, using external tools and abusing glitches or bugs. In-game cheating is not fair play and hurts the experience for the players you are playing against.

Don’t share accounts

Your account is yours and yours alone. Sharing it with someone else is against our rules because you're misrepresenting who it is playing the game to get a competitive edge. It’s also not safe to share your account login information with anybody else.

We have our rules in place because we want Madden to be the best that it can be for all players.

If you break our rules, we might:

  • wipe your MUT Coins
  • limit or remove your eligibility for competitive gaming
  • temporarily or permanently lock your account out of the Auction House
  • suspend your console from playing Madden online modes for a period of time, or forever
  • ban your account.

Think you were banned or suspended by mistake?

Learn how to get in touch with us so we can talk about it.

Need to report something?

You can report players in-game, using our steps. If you need to report someone’s Avatar name, contact us with the information.
