What is Be a Pro?
Be a Pro is a career mode where you create your own hockey player, called your Pro, and guide them through their career, from prospect to NHL star.How you play and the choices you make can shape your career. Take on challenges, make choices in conversations, develop your Pro, and work towards career milestones.How do I create my Pro?
- 1From the main menu, choose Be A Pro Career.
- 2Enter your Pro's name under Name, and choose whether they're a Skater or Goalie, their World Junior nationality, handedness, jersey number, and play-by-play name.
- 3Under Player, customize your Pro's appearance and equipment, then save your changes.
- 4From Draft, choose to continue through the CHL's Memorial Cup or Europe after the World Juniors Medal Round.
- 5Choose whether to use Default or Custom rosters for your career, then select your Pro’s team under Team
- 6Review your choices under Overview, adjust Game Settings if needed, then choose Start Career.

How do I get drafted in Be a Pro?
Your performance and choices before the NHL Draft can affect your draft ranking. Perform well and complete challenges throughout your early career to improve your ranking.- Build your draft stock: NHL scouts start evaluating your Pro during the World Juniors. Your Form Score reflects your recent on-ice performance and can affect your draft ranking. Learn more about how Form Score and Be a Pro progression work.
- Complete challenges: Conversations can give you challenges to complete during upcoming games. Depending on your choice, you might need to win, score points, or reach a target Form Score. Track your active challenges from the Be a Pro Hub.
- Choose your responses carefully: Conversation choices can affect your Team, Management, and Brand Likeabilities, while the response you give in your first Media interview determines whether your Pro gets the Confident, Influential, or Leader Trait. These early choices matter when you reach your Draft interview, where your Trait can shape the responses available to you.
How do I make the NHL team in Be a Pro?
After you're drafted, compete for an NHL roster spot during preseason. Your performance determines whether you make the NHL team or continue your career in the American Hockey League (AHL).- Complete the Make the Team challenge: You'll get a challenge before your first preseason game to work towards earning an NHL roster spot.
- Perform well during preseason: Use your Form Score and Coach Feedback to see how you’re performing during preseason.
- Track your challenge: Go to the Be a Pro Hub to track your active challenge and see how close you are to completing its goals.
