Overview
You can unlink a platform, social, or authorized third-party account from the Connected Accounts tab in your EA Account settings. Before you unlink, know the risks and learn how the change can affect your game progress, purchases, and rewards.
How to unlink your platform from an EA Account
You can switch your linked accounts up to 3 times in a rolling year, but choosing the right account from the start is still the safest way to keep your account secure. Always link to an account you'll keep long-term to preserve your progress and purchases.
- 1Go to the Connected Accounts tab in your EA Account settings portal.
- 2Find the platform account you want to unlink and select the Unlink option.
- Select Revoke to unlink an authorized third-party app from the Authorized Applications section.
- 3Read the disclaimer and make sure you want to unlink, knowing all the risks.
- 4You might be asked to verify your identity–follow the prompts to do so.
What are the risks?
When you unlink a platform account from your EA Account, you can link it to another EA Account, but your game progress won’t transfer over. That means you’ll permanently lose access to:- game progress
- DLC, expansions, and anything extra you have for your game
- memberships and subscriptions
- previous drops and other rewards
- in-game purchases.
If you link your Steam account to a different EA Account, any entitlements, like in-game rewards, points, and items, will remain on the EA Account that your Steam account was first linked to.You can't move your games or personas to another account yourself. If you decide to merge your accounts, contact us for more help from the bottom of the page.
If the platform account you use to play EA SPORTS FC™ is still set as active in the Web and Companion Apps when you unlink, you'll lose access to the apps. If you have more than one platform account on your EA Account that you use to play EA SPORTS FC™, you can change which one is active in the Web and Companion Apps to greatly reduce the risk of losing access to the apps. The risk is much lower, but still exists. Don't unlink your platform accounts if you want to be sure you can always access the Web and Companion Apps.If you’re sure you’re okay with this risk, here’s how to switch accounts in the apps:
- 1Sign in to the Web App or Companion App.
- 2Select Settings.
- 3At the top right, select Change beside the platform icon.
- 4Choose the platform account you want to set as active—it shouldn’t be the one you’re planning to unlink.
If you unlink a platform account that you use to play Apex Legends, you might have issues with Battle Pass leveling, item unlocks, and other errors.
