How to trade players in EA SPORTS NHL® 27 Connected Franchise mode

You can trade players in EA SPORTS NHL® 27 Connected Franchise mode before the playoffs begin. Learn how to propose and accept trades, manage your trading block, and claim free agents to improve your roster.

How does trading work in Connected Franchise?

Before your league’s playoffs start, you can make trades with other teams to improve your lineup. Both teams have to accept a trade, and it then has to be approved by your league’s commissioner.

How do I propose a trade?

    Select Manage Team from the Connected Franchise menu. 
  2. 2
    Choose Propose Trade from the menu on the left of the screen.

    Select Add Item to choose players and assets for your trade. 
  4. 4
    When you’ve added at least one asset per side of the trade, select Propose Trade to make your offer. 
    • If your offer breaks any of the other team’s salary or roster limits, the Propose Trade option won’t show up.

    Your trade offer will be sent to the other player’s inbox.

How do I accept a trade?

    Go to your Mailbox.

    Choose a request from the menu on the left. 
    • You can filter these requests to see your Trade Offers
  3. 3
    Choose Accept Trade, Decline Trade, or View/Negotiate Trade
  4. 4
    If you accept a trade, it’ll be sent to your commissioner. They can Accept Trade or Veto Trade.

    A trade is final after it’s been approved by your commissioner. 

What’s the trade block?

The trade block, or trading block, lets you list which players you’re willing to trade and what you want in return. To use it:

    Select Manage Team from the Connected Franchise menu. 
  2. 2
    Choose Trade Block from the menu on the left of the screen. 
  3. 3
    Add and remove players on the left. 
  4. 4
    Enter Surplus and Wants on the right to show what you’d want in return for each player. 
    • You can’t add draft picks to the trading block.
You can view other players’ trade blocks by going to Manage Team> Browse Trade Block. Your trade block is also visible to others. 

How do I claim free agents?

    Select Manage Team from the Connected Franchise menu. 
  2. 2
    Choose Claim Free Agents from the menu on the left of the screen. 
  3. 3
    Choose filters to find free agents that match the features you want.
  4. 4
    Select a free agent to submit a bid on a player. 
    • You can only submit one claim per player. 
  5. 5
    Enter your bid information, like your bid amount, and claim priority. 
  6. 6
    Select Confirm & Submit Claim to confirm your bid.
If your bid puts you over the roster or salary limit, you’ll have to add pending drops (players who will be removed from your roster) to your claim. After following the steps above:

    Select Drop Players, where you can choose players from your team to add as a pending drop. 
    • You can add multiple players as pending drops. 
    • When a free agent claim is attached, selected players remain on pending drop status until the claim processes.
    • Without an associated free agent claim, choosing Confirm & Drop Players instantly releases the selected players from your roster.
    • You can’t drop players who are part of an accepted but unapproved trade.
    • You can drop players who are part of trade requests that haven’t been accepted yet.

     Select Confirm & Submit Claim to confirm your bid.
