How do I customize Legends and weapons in Apex Legends™?

You can customize Legends and weapons in Apex Legends from the Legends and Loadout tabs. From there, you can equip skins and cosmetics to show off your skills and items. Learn more about cosmetics and how to use them in this guide.
You can customize different Legend cosmetics to change how your Legend appears in-game. Customizations are unique to each Legend.

Select the Legends tab.

Choose the Legend you want to customize.

Select the cosmetic type you want to change:
Skins
Banners
Emote Wheel
Animations, like Finishers
Melee.

Choose the cosmetic you want to equip.
For some cosmetics, you need to select Equip to confirm.

Skins customize how your Legend and weapons look. Mythic Prestige skins are the highest-tier Legend skins. They have three tiers that you can unlock and equip via gameplay after purchase.

Banners are the background your Legend appears on when you choose them before a match or when your squad is shown in-game. There are a few ways you can customize your banner.
Frame
The background behind your Legend. Only one can be equipped.
Pose
Your Legend’s pose. Higher level poses include movement. Only one can be equipped.
Badges
Badges you earn for in-game achievements. You can equip up to three.
Trackers
In-game badges that show your statistics. You can equip up to three.
Intro Quip
A phrase that plays when someone inspects your profile or if you’re made the match’s Champion.
Kill Quip
A phrase that plays when you kill another player.
Use your banner to show off your best stats, how well you play your main, or to create themed banners around your favorite skins.
Emotes are short movements your Legend can show off in matches. There are a few types you can equip.
Emotes
Movements you can perform in matches.
Holosprays
Holographic images your Legend can place around the arena.
Quips
Legend-specific phrases you can say in matches.
Skydive Emotes
Emotes you can perform while dropping into the arena.
You can equip up to eight items total to your Emote Wheel.
You can customize your Legend’s animation (the animation that plays in the Legend select screen) here.You can also choose your Legend’s finisher—the final move they can perform to eliminate a downed enemy. Every Legend has different finishers, and a special cutscene will play when you perform one. You can only equip one at a time.You’ll see a prompt when you can perform one in a match: Hold [your platform’s input] for Finisher.
Melee weapons are what your Legend uses if you haven’t picked up a weapon yet or aren’t currently using a weapon.Some Melee weapons can be customized with different components. Components can be purchased with Exotic Shards.Preview a component to see how it would look, then Select it to equip it.
Heirlooms are Mythic items that customize the look of your melee weapon.
You can often earn Heirlooms through Collection Events, or you can get Heirloom Shards from Apex Packs to exchange for Heirlooms.
Melee weapons are cosmetic in Apex Legends. If you use a melee weapon in a match, your Legend will perform a special attack.
You can customize your Legend’s deathbox (boxes players drop when killed) in the Legends tab.

Select Melee, then select a weapon.

Select Customization and choose a deathbox skin.
Deathbox skins customize boxes dropped by players you kill, not your own deathbox. You can get deathbox skins as Collection Event rewards or by buying them with Exotic Shards.
How do I customize weapons?

Go to the Legends Locker tab.

Select Weapons.

Choose the weapon type you want to customize.
If you’ve got any new customizations for a weapon type, you’ll see a red dot on it.

Choose Charms or Skins.

Scroll down to find and choose what you want to equip.

Select Equip to equip a cosmetic or Unlock to acquire it with Crafting Metals.
You won’t start matches with your customized weapon. When you find and equip this weapon type in a match, it’ll be customized.
Weapon charms are small items you can attach to weapons. You can only equip one charm to a weapon at a time, and a charm can’t be equipped to multiple weapons at the same time.
How do item rarities work in Apex Legends?
When you get an item in Apex Legends, you can tell how rare it is by its color. There are six different item tiers.
White
Common.
Blue
Rare.
Purple
Epic.
Gold
Legendary.
Red
Mythic.
Turquoise
Iconic.
Rarer cosmetics usually have more complex designs. Not all cosmetics include items at each rarity. Heads-up: rarer items cost more to craft, are less common in Apex Packs, and cost more in the Store. Learn more in our Apex Legends crafting and currencies guide.
