Everything you need to know now that you can play The Sims™ 4 base game for free.

From October 18, 2022, The Sims 4 base game will be free to play. All new players can download the base game free of charge.

The Sims 4 base game will be free to download on all supported platforms from October 18, 2022. Here’s where you can play The Sims 4:

  • PC via the EA app or Origin
  • Mac via Origin
  • Steam
  • PlayStation 5
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Xbox One systems

Need help installing?

If you need some help with the install process, we have you covered with our step-by-step guide so you can easily install the game. This also goes through everything you need to know about installing Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and Kits.

If you’re looking to add some extra DLC (downloadable content) to the base game, follow this guide to creating a build and buy bundle for PC and Mac.

Also, before you install the game, make sure to check out the minimum system requirements.

For EA Play and EA Play Pro members, there will be extra benefits to The Sims 4 base game going free to play.

EA Play members

If you’re an EA Play member, heads up that we’re removing The Sims 4 Deluxe Edition from The Play List on October 18, 2022. We’re replacing it with The Sims 4 EA Play Edition, also on October 18, 2022.

The Sims 4 EA Play Edition will also include The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack.

EA Play Pro members

If you’re an EA Play Pro member, note that we’re removing The Sims 4 Deluxe Edition, The Sims 4 Dine Out, and The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff from The Play List on October 18, 2022. We’re replacing it with The Sims 4 EA Play Pro Edition, also on October 18, 2022.

The Sims 4 EA Play Pro Edition will include The Sims 4 Get to Work Expansion Pack and The Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff.
